Re: Effectiveness of chemical vs. surgical castration
My impression from being around transgender communities and friends for over a year is that cyproterone acetate may actually affect libido more than a bilateral orchiectomy. Cypro also seems to harm the liver, necessitate Vitamin B12 supplementation, and carry an increased risk of depression. If I ...

Re: When was castration right for you ?
I was cut just before turning 22 and realistically I would be in a much better spot if it was done 6 ~ 12 months earlier. I was long ready for it and my dysphoria was just becoming destructive and consuming. Idealistically, such evils would have never attached to my body.

Indeed, that is not a short noun. Please consider my posting non-existent.
For a more thorough discussion of this topic, if desirable, has anybody read or even participated in the formulation of the current WPATH SoC?
Not entirely sure, but I believe JessicaH was referring to "Barren" as ...

Re: Vocabulary Issue
It's funny that women have their ovaries removed all the time and no one ever thought there needed to be a term to call them. Does there need to be a noun for a male with no balls?
I think this is partly due to the fact that safely castrating women is a more recent invention, so there are not ...

Re: Vocabulary Issue
The only other possible English word I can think of is "castrate." But I agree that "eunuch" is the best term in English. My endocrinologist was quick to note down "Eunuchism" on my health records when I saw her, even though I never brought up the word myself. What exactly are the stereotypes the ...

Re: Kinda silly but I felt like sharing.
Every time I went to a dentist, they used a shield about the size of my entire torso. And over my torso it went. It never occurred to me that it would have anything to do with anything between my thighs. Well, not as a man anyway—I figured it was just a pregnancy-motivated protocol that leaked over ...

My DEXA showed mild osteopenia & endo wants me on Fosamax for 4-5 years. Anyone have experience with these kinds of medications? What kinds of side effects do they have and how do they compare to alternatives?

Sometimes it's a little jarring when I'm habitually browsing the internet, checking forums for updates, and then I see sentences like "

Re: Scrotum removal complete
As many here know I had my empty scrotum removed nearly nine weeks ago and have had some complications in healing.
Contrary to the recommendations of the nurse, last week I went another route and just left the wound open to air. In aid of that my wife took and old tee shirt, sewed in some elastic ...

Re: Questions on becoming a nullo in the US as a foreigner
Well, I also had this idea already. To be honest, I currently don't know if it would work. I have to do some research on that. The surgeons won't probably make problems, but I think my health insurance wouldn't accept a letter from some foreign country, even if it follows WPATH standards.
One ...

Question, did you have a medical reason for the orchiectomy? Or just 'cause you wanted one? If the later what kind of hoops did you have to go through with Dr Spettel to get it done? Letters?
The medical reason was "gender identity disorder of adult." My understanding is that she'll do a self ...

Re: Questions on becoming a nullo in the US as a foreigner
Thanks for your replies so far. Indeed it was XXYGuy26's story that made me think if a trip to your country could be an option for me.
Spending 3 or possibly 4 weeks may be possible. I already feared that some kind of online counseling will not work to get the letters. If I need two different ...

Re: Why do eunuchs gain fat and how to maintain muscle mass?
Even in this century, and in the US, many mental institutions are not fun. I was committed to one in a southern state when I was 12; that would've been around 2008. They gave me a bunch of sleeping pills in the afternoon and then punished me for missing activities. They also had a practice of ...

Re: Do male-to-female transsexuals have sexual desires?
Prejudice? No. My reasoning is "if eunuchs try to decrease T to get rid of their libido, shouldnt MTF transsexuals have almost no libido (because they dont have testicles)..
If MTF transsexuals have libido (although they have very low T), whats the point of decreasing my T to get rid of my sexual ...

Re: Do male-to-female transsexuals have sexual desires?
Since they lose their testicles and have much less testosterone, they are practically eunuchs and have very little to no libido? Is this correct?
No. I would call that a shortsighted prejudice. Even some eunuchs who go without T do not encounter much decrease in libido. Many trans women ...
