In one of the cartoons, the nurse has apparently applied some oil, and she is telling the person that this will "help the band tighten."

Is this correct? Does oil help the rubber band to do its job more quickly, or more effectively?

Please excuse my ignorance, but in several of the submitted pics on Slammers site, there is reference to a "green rubber band." It is either already on, or being placed on, the testicles of the person to be castrated.
