I've been told by Doctors cutting things off would not solve the problem, since it originates in the spine, and would be left with phantom pain.
But if another spine surgery doesn't solve this, then I'd probably explore diagnostic injection of lidocaine into the dorsal nerve to see if that provides ...

Doctors generally prescribe pain management for surgery after care. However, you're going to have a rough road if they catch you self-medicating. So if you are, I'd knock it off.
