📢 NEW SURVEY – Usefulness of the WPATH Standards of Care

A research study from the University of Hawai‘i is now open for participation.

🧪 The study explores how the WPATH Standards of Care v8 – Eunuch Chapter has supported individuals in accessing gender-affirming medical or surgical care (e.g., orchiectomy, penectomy, nullification).

📝 Participants are invited to complete a completely anonymous 30-minute survey to share their experience. No personal information is collected.

🔗 Click below to take the survey:

📚 The results will contribute to a medical journal article and help improve access and care for the Eunuch community.

Welcome to the forum PaulJCat...

Given that we really don't (that I know of) why some folks are gay and some aren't, it is really hard to say if castration causes a change in orientation... Seems like for every theory about what makes a person be gay you can find plenty of cases of straight guys that have met the same theory and not 'become' gay or vice versa (note I include being born gay in with becoming...)

My personal thought is that if a guy already had some sort of inclination towards being gay, but for whatever reason 'socialized' as straight because it was the 'proper guy thing' and didn't admit the gay tendency to come out. Then castration would 'free' him from the need to do the straight guy thing since he was no longer a 'real man' so he can now follow that interest that was there all along, but hidden... So it would LOOK like castration caused him to switch, but he really didn't, just became free to follow what was there all along...

However that is just as much of a theory as any others...

Would you mind share what caused your pre-puberty castration?

I was hetero before and I am hetero now. It never occurred to me to switch sides.

I was chemically castrated for 6 months in depo Provera. My orientation didn't really change. I still identified as hetero, but honestly, I had no drive. So I was more asexual than anything. I will say I found a certain fascination with muscular men, but more of an admiration than an attraction.
