I filled it out. Some questions were a little difficult to answer, however, I believe it's difficult for none eunuchs to understand us. It sounded as though abuse is considered a reason for some men to get castrated. Maybe it is, but I'm sure that's that not the most common reason.

Several questions are hard for a retired person or little income to answer. Being asexual does not seem to fit very well in some questions. Guess I sort of had to fake it like I do in real life to fit in. I can see where most of the questions will be of great help for the greater good for all of us that have the castration as a choice in life.

Anything like this that will help the doctors take notice of us and treat us with the respect deserves to our full support.

In the sexual interests section where you ask to have partners listed, the one that applied to me wasn't there. I prefer being with males or eunuchs, but the closest thing there was males/eunuchs/females, so that is what I answered. That is even though if I wanted tuna I'd open a can of chicken of the sea. ;)

I thought that some Archive members might be interested to know that there have already been over 250 completed surveys - 267, to be exact, as of about five minutes ago. There have been 639 clicks through from the rather scary disclaimer and warning page that the Dalhousie University Institutional Review Board insisted everyone agree to. There is no way to tell how many have read that page and have decided not to open the first page of the survey.

Our goal is to reach at least 1,000 complete responses to this survey. We had 996 responses to the first survey on which the four articles are based.

If you have not already taken it, please seriously consider adding your voice to represent the eunuch community. If you know others who are not regulars here on the Archive, please consider asking them to participate as well. The more responses we have, the more power future articles will have to change the opinions of the medical community.

I want to reassure all of you that the data is absolutely anonymous. The only way that we could possibly know who has answered the survey is if you decide to put your name and/or email address in one of the open-ended questions or post here commenting about it. Some individuals did put their contact information in the first survey. I have no idea whether or not anyone has in this one.

There is such way, but it requires access to the server on which survey is posted.

Do any of us really need to know any of that???

All that is important is the fact that so many have gone all the way from the front page all the way to the last page. That is what counts. That is what will help the study get the data it needs.

In just over a month, the second Eunuch Archive survey has had more than one thousand responses. However the researchers, Drs. Johnson and Wassersug, are hoping for still more. The more responses, the more data, the better the reception of their research by the medical community.

While we expect that most of the regular readers and members of the Eunuch Archive have already completed the survey, if you know of anyone who is not a regular reader who ought to be part of this study, please send them a request to participate and add their own experiences to the data set.

While they are interested in both eunuch wannabes and those who are merely interested in castration, but who have no desire for their own castration, they especially need more data from those who have already been castrated, either surgically or chemically.

The link below leads directly to the opening page of the survey:

The survey can also be reached directly from a link on the front page of the Eunuch Archive at:

Thanks for posting this, Kristoff. I am an Archive member who had not taken the survey until this evening because I was not sure I fit in the demographic group sought by the authors. Your post got me thinking. I emailed one of the authors and found out they certainly are interested in a trans female. I am effectively chemically castrated, after all, and was for many months before I started estrogen.

I took the survey this morning. They had some good questions. Funny how you take things for granted. There were a few things on there that I had never really thought about as a Eunuch. I seriously do appreciate it when others show interest in us.

As with many I filled out the survey and was pleased to be participate. However, this pleasure was diminished when I read some of the conclusions that the surveyors had previously reached-as well as their comments-and was disturbed to find considerable reference to "genital mutilation". Perhaps my reading wasn't extensive enough but there seemed to be no references to those persons who genuinely wished to be rid of their genitals for their own reasons. I quite understand that genital mutilation exists and is worthy of study but there exists in me a niggling concern that our responses may not be interpreted as we had thought they might be. If those who mutilate their genitals respond and explain their motivations, fine but for the many of us who simply wish to be Eunuchs or Transgendered with no thought of pleasure from pain, then that, too, must be addressed. Again, my readings may be inconclusive but my worries are genuine.

Hi everybody,

I would like to participate! Unfortunately it seems that my PC is too old to load the questionnaire. May be you can send it by email with an add for reply!

Thanks and bye
