Is it possible to make subscription an option?

At the moment I can't really put a lot of money into a donation but I would find it easy to sign up for a monthly subscription.

I find it hard to agree with this statement. MaleBodyMods ask $20 for a year BIANNUAL SUBSCRIPTION.

If EA ask $1.66 MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION, that would be $20 for the year. I would think it would be "easier" and affordable to donate $10 once off rather than $1.66 for a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION. I think, if one can afford it, that one should at least donate $20.

I could be wrong, but I understand EA to be more like Wikipedia...a library of information for those who are considering to inflict some serious harm to themselves as well as a source of valuable information (provided by first hand experience from members) to those in the medical community that study people like us. EA is not like MBM or BME. Requiring a subscription would prevent people from joining the Archive which could result in serious harm or even death as they could not acquire this information.

Just like Wikipedia (they also ask donations every year), the EA exists on donations. Come on boys and girls, let us keep this information free to the world which would one day enlighten the medical community to understand us better and change their paradigm rather than hiding behind a subscription based website causing them to think that we are freaks or a cult.

We don't use the subscription method - we don't have a merchant account to charge cards for example. All we ask is do what you can afford, when you can afford it.

As for running ads, we investigated that last year. None of the operations that provide such ads will even consider running them here.

Retrieved a contribution from the mail box this morning from a couple of friends in New Zealand. Thanks JZ.

I had not checked the Paypal mailbox in a few weeks, because there hasn't been any posts here for a while. I looked in this AM to see what if any balance was in there. I was surprised to see that on 23 February JCat had sent another contribution - a rather generous one. I suspect I could do a lot of searching to find an exact number, but I do believe this is about the 5th time he has done so. As a result we definitely owe a lot of thanks to him for helping to keep us here.

Checked the mail box this morning while out running errands. I lift a toast to my good friend, Jesus (A), for a very generous contribution to the financial well being of the EA. I would encourage any member here to make sure that what you appreciate stays here and stays viable. Support your discussions, the stories, the chat board. It all costs money.

Have sent 25 $, cos the a thread about banding which have lead to some kind of erectile dysfunction was helpfull.
