Mac and Mad, you're both right! My husband had to be castrated due to prostate cancer; so I had to learn a lot; and I'm for real. Bit I'm olso older now and don't really need him to have an erection. You are so right and understanding. Beyond reproduction, there is no real need for a penis and testicles. However, doctors have a thing about removing them but will willingly remove a woman's uterus and ovaries. Why the double standard.

As a man ages, his penis and the hormones produced by the testicles frequently cause problems which could be drastically reduced if they were removed. Also, tell me why a married man needs his wife's approval for even a vasectomy but a married woman can get a tubal ligation, hysterectomy or removal of her ovaries without her husband's approval?

For 15 years I had an undetcted prolactinoma, a tumor that produces the hormone prolactin. (I will spare you my stock tirade on why it is called the "practice" of medicine.) During the period that the tumor was undetected I did not have erections. Not having erections causes penis shrinkage! I lost one inch in length and 1/2 inch in width. The size reduction could have been prevented if my doctor had told me to use a penis pump for 15 minutes daily. Anyway I have to make do with the size that I have now.

With treatment my sex drive returned...for about a year. My sorely overtaxed testicles gave up and stopped making testosterone. I was given a prescription for Androgel which has given me the testosterone level of a 20 year old (And, the libido to match!) however, long term use of outside testosterone causes the testicles to atrophy! Steroids don't shrink your penis, they make it bigger. It is true, however, that if you have a much bigger body than average and only an average sized penis, then you will have the appearance of having small dick. This is where the steroids shrink myth comes from.
