Yeah, I've played with you long enough, pal.
Bye bye...

I done it, it was too long and redundant.

I have done the survey, I didn't fill out the replies requiring text as I found the questions too open ended. I felt my reply could change depending on the day!! They were the worst part of the survey for me. I feel that a multiple choice approach is better. Even if it requires a few more questions, the character traits are better elucidated by this method rather than asking question that require text. It is better to gather the information from the respondent so they unwittingly reveal their character rather than give them the chance to write out answers. They may answer more truthfully rather than putting what they feel they would be expected to put.
As soon as you state you have academic goals then any survey and it results must stand up to peer review. For any conclusion to be able to withstand this process the survey must meet certain criteria in its methods. With the benefit of hindsight maybe Kevin will see he has tried to use a one size fits all survey for gathering information. If he decided to rework it I would be happy to fill in a new one. Certainly by stating his academic goals he has incurred the wrath of the self appointed guardians of academic excellence. Unfortunately rather than being offered constructive advice or critique in a friendly and helpful way (from someone who may actually have been able to help should they have chosen to) he was merely lambasted for perceived incompetence.
It would be interesting to see a new survey constructed with some help from people who understand what is needed to get creditable results that can withstand close scrutiny by those responsible for correct peer review.

Did it but it was long and redundant. I'm sure there was a reason for the redundancy, but they need to break them up into several shorter focused ones.

On a survey like this one, the redundancies are put in to catch fantasy players. Such as, "At what age did you first become interested in castration?"
Repeat the question, get 2 different answers, and the entry is invalid.

Also, to minuteman: I asked a handful of open-ended questions (requiring narrative answers) in hopes of learning more about sexuality and identity among eunuchs and eunuch wannabes without the constraints of a numerical scale. This community, especially with respect to certain aspects of sexuality and identity, has not been well studied, and so having these open-ended responses might lead to some interesting new insights or directions for future research. I think both quantitative and qualitative data are useful.
Fair point, well made...

There were a lot of questions I just didn't bother answering because they didn't pertain to me at all.

Huge thanks again to everyone who helped with this survey - providing responses for the survey and/or providing feedback about it.
We are getting close to wrapping up data collection, and so I am writing to see if there was anyone else interested in taking it before we wrap up. I am confident that the data will be interesting and important, and I am taking seriously the many helpful comments and feedback about the current form of the survey as I move forward in this area of research.

I'm glad that people (grad students) are taking an interest in voluntary eunuchs and MTE transgender people.

I had a tough time with that survey as well. The sliders had to be moved off "0" and back on to "0" to register.
The survey seemed to focus on fetishes. I am not, nor was I ever a fetishist. Actually very boring in that regard.

Kevin Hsu has completed his PhD at Northwestern University. His doctoral dissertation included the information that he collected with the survey, along with information on furries and others. He is now an assistant professor of psychology at Penn State, but has not yet published the data from his dissertation in any journal articles. I expect that he will, but time from research to writing to publication is generally far longer than most people expect. I will let everyone here know once his work sees print.
