Hi all, I heard the Dr. Kimmel is going to retire soon. Does anyone know any young, up and comers, preferably a urologist in his/her 50's, willing to carry the torch?

We should ask him to find a replacement, and preferably two or three around the country.🙋

When I talked with Dr. Kimmel yesterday, he made no mention of any plans to retire. Who/what is your source of information? Let's not spread rumors here.

I have not heard any hint that Dr. Kimmel is going to retire soon. Information such as that usually gets to me quickly. I think that we are all concerned that there will be no replacement for him when he does decide to stop practicing so we are a little jumpy at the idea of him retiring without a clear choice of a successor. --FLO--

Dr. Kimmel got a bit defensive when I raised this very topic with him. From what I understand, he has no plans to retire except by the same method as Dr. Spector - i.e. natural death. Not sure what his problem is - I also wish that he would pick a sucessor.

Dr. K. does have two sons who are doctors (don't know what kind), and another son who is a veterinarian [giggle], so I have a feeling that there might be a dynasty in the making here.

When I asked Dr. Kimmel about a successor a while back, he stated that few urologists would consider succeeding him due to all of the problems that they would face, problems with the medical community and being ostracized by them. Also said something about legal problems and mounting costs.

Let's be proactive because we know Kimmel will retire in the near future. I have sent this email out to Dr. McGinn, if it can be improved upon, please feel free to suggest any alterations. My goal, our goal, is to find another doctor somewhere in America who will consider taking over for Dr. K when he finally retires. Maybe we can find someone sooner, who will help us if prompted. Of course we want someone who will not ask many questions or demand a psychological evaluation either. Here's what I wrote, be it right or wrong. You can copy it and change it if you want, but send it out to other urologists/plastic surgeons/sex change physicians:

Dear Dr. McGinn (she's transgendered like MarciBowers, here is her website http://drchristinemcginn.com/)

There is a large community of men in America who struggle with a persistent desire to be castrated, but who cannot find qualified physicians to perform the surgery. I realize that castration is frowned upon by most plastic surgeons & urologists, which leaves our community with only one Philadelphia Urologist who will perform castrations with few questions. His name is Dr. Kimmel - http://etransgender.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32 but he is aging and will retire soon. With his retirement, many men who desire castration will look for back alley cutters to perform their castrations. We are afraid of the tragic consequences and need to locate a doctor who we can suggest as a safe alternative. Our eunuch community is composed of eunuchs like myself and many wannabees who need help - http://www.eunuch.org/ - http://www3.interscience.wiley.com/jour ... 1&SRETRY=0

Several men have attempted self castration, some have even died trying. If you care about transgendered people, please consider helping our community. Let me know if you can help us, thank you. The following is an excerpt of an important article about eunuchs.

Archives of Sexual Behavior, Vol. 33, No. 5, October 2004, pp. 433-442 ( C_ 2004) New Age Eunuchs: Motivation and Rationale for Voluntary Castration Richard J. Wassersug, Ph.D.,1,4 Sari A. Zelenietz, B.S.,2 and G. Farrell Squire, B.S.3 Received July 22, 2003; revision received November 11, 2003; accepted November 11, 2003

We used a survey posted on the Internet to explore the motivation of men who are interested in being castrated. Out of 134 respondents, 23 (17%) reported already having been castrated. The 104 (78%) individuals who said they had not been castrated were asked why they wanted to be castrated and why they had not actualized that desire. They were given multiple-choice answers to select from. The major reason (selected by 40% of respondents) for desiring castration was to

achieve a "eunuch calm" and freedom from sexual urges; however, a large proportion (∼30%) of respondents found fantasies about being castrated sexually exciting and a similar percentage desired

castration for the "cosmetic" appearance it achieved (which we interpret to mean scrotal removal along with an orchiectomy). This high interest in castration as either a sexual stimulus (a fetish) or

a cosmetic enhancement was unexpected and contrasted with the more classically stated motivation for voluntary castration in the psychiatric literature, i.e., libido control and transsexualism. Internet discussion groups that serve these men may encourage them to act out their castration fantasies. Alternately, Internet discussions may give them a displacement outlet for their fantasies and decrease

the risk of castration by nonmedically qualified "street-cutters" or by self-mutilation. Forty percent of our respondents claimed that they would have an orchiectomy, if it were cheap, safe, and simple.

A quarter wanted to try chemical castration first, but 40% were embarrassed to talk to their doctors about their interest in castration. Information now available on the Internet provides these men with increasingly easy access to street-cutters and directions on howto perform surgical castrations, putting them at risk of permanent injury and disability. Physicians need to be aware of these risks.

KEYWORDS: castration; Internet; orchiectomy; eunuch; fetish.

INTRODUCTION Eunuchs are castrated men whose testicles are surgically removed or otherwise made nonfunctional by crushing or drug treatment. Next to tooth extraction and circumcision, castration has arguably been the most commonly practiced surgical ablation on the Asian continent since before Christ. It produced the hundreds of thousands

I'd be diffident about naming Dr K so directly. He cannot be unknown in his own professional circles, never the less it might be wise not to invite what could be unwelcome scrutiny.

The ideal replacement, in my mind, would be a retired military surgeon. He would have the security of a military officer's retirement pay which might insulate him from some of the stress of criticism. --FLO--

Dr. McGinn is yet another example of the wonders of cosmetic surgery.

I would hope that another doctor (excuse the pun) has the stones to step into Dr. Kimmel's place!

Excellent idea, UF. Also, since it takes a particular alpha male (ok, one with balls) to choose military as career anyway, and since largely other alpha males (ok, ones with balls) are the enemy threat, it might be particularly gratifying for a military surgeon to find extreme beta males (ok, those who know they don't need balls)

and repeatedly de-testicle, de-hormone, de-alpha as many males as possible.

Is doctor Kimmel a eunuch? I wondered about this when he castrated me. He seemed to have signs of eunuchism, though many men develop hypogonadism with age. Curious.

That's an interesting question. I didn't ask and he didn't say.

My own take is that he still has them.

While Dr. Kimmel has no plans to retire, I feel that he should. What a mess he made of my stitches! Thankfully, no trouble with my sutured cords as of yet. However, I really dislike how much he left of them as the cuts were made very close to the testicles. This means I have two nasty hard lumps in my groin on either side of my penis.

:(

I am of two minds about the idea of Dr. Kimmel retiring. I would like him to retire before one of his patients is harmed and yet, I would like him to continue in order to provide a service available no where else. --FLO--

2 things to conceder

even if he is getting a little sloppy in his work

he is still safer than a back street cutter

and those who believe they can try it them self

at this point knowing what I know about him now

I would ask him for a castration and scrotal removal

i had surgery done on my scrotum to fix some hernias twice

the first doctors stitches failed with in 2 days..the wound puckered and was a mess

the scrotum is extremely hard to stitch up

extreme care must be taken to ensure those stitches stay put

of all the guys here that had scrotum surgery....show of hands ...how many had problems with the stitches.???

the second doctor sewed me up so the stitches didn't show when he got done..i don't know how he did it..healed excellent

Six surgeries on mine produced absolutely no problems with external sutures. Once by Spector (at least his held ON THE OUTSIDE of the scrotum, not inside), twice to fix Spector's fuck ups, once to implant prostheses, and twice to deal with prostheses with them not working out right for me. Kimmel is sloppy, and there is no good excuse for that.

When I met Dr. Kimmel I thought him to be about 70 something. Most doctor's retire before then. I'm not sure what motivates Dr. Kimmel to keep castrating at his age, that's a good question isn't it? Does he really need the money? Does he feel compelled to help men or does he just like castrating men? I wish I could get inside his mind for a few minutes. Well, maybe not. I've got second thoughts. What you learn might be detrimental to your well being. Hash

Flo,

I'm with you on this one. The community needs more doctors willing to do orchiectomies on an elective basis. However, I think that Doctor Kimmel is dangerously inadequate.

From what research I have done, and Dr. Kimmel's own statements, his age is 73 or 74. He is definitely past his prime and really needs a younger understudy to take over and do the tricky parts of the surgery. My own opinion is that he should retire NOW.

I, too, have wondered about his motivation. Greed is definitely a possible motive, but I think it is more than that. I feel that Dr. Kimmel believes that he is performing a public service. There was a castration website called UCCN that mirrors Dr. Kimmel's beliefs and actions. UCCN claimed to be run by a former navy surgeon. Kimmel was also a navy surgeon. Is there a connection?
