2012
Midwest MoM

Thursday, August 2 thru Sunday, August 5

Near Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN

🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈 🌈

The MoM is an annual gathering of members of the Eunuch Archive community. All members are invited to attend. This is your chance to meet face-to-face with those folk whose posts you have been reading and with whom you have exchanged private messages.

EVENT SCHEDULE (to be filled in as planning progresses):

Thursday evening, August 2 (a full moon night for our werewolf contingent!)

BBQ at the Convent - AKA The Good Sister's Backyard

Friday, August 3

Day to explore the local sights/sites (suggestions available from locals)

Afternoon: Wine & Cheese with Paolo & Jesus

Dinner at a local restaurant (TBA)

Saturday, August 4

All day at the Mothership (the adjacent homes of Gem, Riverwind & Talula)

Sunday, August 5

Riverwind's "World Famous" pancake breakfast followed by camaraderie

Some will head home during the day; others will party & leave on Monday

As we get much closer to the event, more details (including maps and a list of those planning to attend) will be provided. We will need an email address from each person planning to attend, an email that will accept attachments so that we can send the maps, etc.

A number of folk will be staying in the same motel (about midway between the Convent and the Mothership).

To get on the list for further information, either

1) send a <PRIVATE MESSAGE> to Riverwind

(Click on his name at the left and select "Send private message to Riverwind" from the drop down menu.), or

2) send an email to

theMoM-2012 (at) hotmail (dot) com

Maps and other information about the MoM will be sent from the Hotmail account.

Further information will be added to this post as we get closer to the event.

I have decided on a dessert course at The Convent involving a great deal of heavy whipping cream, berries, and nuts. I'll probably make a cold salad dish involving cauliflower, sort of a fake potato salad. Low carb, high fat! I do know my way around a kitchen now, thanks to diabetes!

I will be there. I am sincerely looking forward to this. It is going to mean a lot meeting everyone.

Of course when people realize how boring I am in real life, I may not be invited to another.

When I'm not boring, I talk too much. But mostly I'm boring. I don't have all that interesting of stories to tell. Most of them, I've already shared here on the boards.

I've been accused of being a good listener, but never of being interesting.

Less than two months to go until the Great Grand Gathering. It's shaping up to be a fascinating collection of people this year. A map just went out those who've let River or me know that they plan to attend.

Let one of us know if you want to be on the list for this year.

Uh....I let both Jesus and Kristoff know I will attend some of the events. :) Just checked my email and did not find a note or a map! This is OK, though, as I am an old hand at getting to the MoM venues.

Only ONE MONTH left until the 2012 MoM!

There's still time for you to plan to attend this annual gathering of the clan. Everything is coming together for an exciting time with great camaraderie (and plenty of food and drink to go with it).

If you are interested in joining us for this great party, send a private message either to Riverwind or to me, or send an email to

TheMoM-2012 (at) Hotmail (dot) com

Include an email address that can accept attachments (such as the map to the location of the party). We would also like your "street name" as well as your Archive name so that we know what to call you when you arrive.

We hope to see you there!

Jesus and I have landed!

I had a bumpy flight in. Jesus said his was good.

We're getting settled in right now.

And yes, River, I brought an AVI file of that movie with Magnus for you!

MOM members be warned, you'll probably be tortured with pictures again this year. Grandson is almost 4 now.

Jesus and I have landed!

You should take Jesus to closest store and go to water shelf. That could be beneficial.

Look yourself, where he has been: http://demots.co.uk/web/gfx/lucullus-jesus.jpg :)

Hope you guys share.

Maybe a chat room of people at the meeting sharing.

Or a Yahoo Messenger type room with a cam going.

Some event pics might be fun, like dinner or

the great circle jerk. πŸ‘Ή made me do it. ;)

Share you guys.

And I respect you got better things to do from there then share.

The food was fantastic, what a great place to eat. What makes it better was sharing it with old and new friends.

I know who was a little buzzed of course only three were drinking and it was not Jesus.

My not-quite $700 "soak the public" county government pension check was deposited in my bank account today, so, if I drive slowly, but not too slowly, I expect to arrive at the Mothership region around 3:00 post meridian tomorrow. All I need to do is drive from the eastern shore of Wisconsin almost to the western shore. Most of the trip will be on Highway 29 and Interstate 94, which are four lane and my fuel-economy-necessary pace will not block the road. A 16 year old pickup truck and a 10 year old slide-in truck camper allow me to travel without needing a prosthetic colon.

I really admire our dear Wisconsin governor's notions of how government employees take advantage of the public dole. $700 per month is $8400 per year, which makes my pension insanely extravagant, given the federal poverty threshold for a family of one of $10,890. Fortunately, I worked in private industry for about four years prior to becoming an overpaid government employee, and, with Social Security from non-government employment, even with the government pension offset, which notably reduces my Social Security income, the combination does take me above the poverty line.

Only, I cannot afford to drive at the posted speed limits on major highways.

(For the sake of fairness, my wife worked as a public school teacher, and our combined income is adequate for us, provided that I do not drive fast enough to make fuel for the truck unaffordable.)

Highway fuel use per mile seems to minimize at about 50 miles per hour.

Pity that. Going faster than about 50 miles per hour on the Interstate could properly earn me a citation from a police officer for "going too fast for conditions," "conditions" meaning being able to pay the bills?

$6.00 of my pension went to fill up the propane tank so the truck camper refrigerator will work.

I am looking forward to meeting folks I never met before... And meeting again folks I met at last year's MoM.

And the Nordic Ware Krumkake "aluminum" iron and base are already in the camper.

My appetite is ready.
