I've been searching for a comprehensive thread on this. Can anyone help me out? I'm specifically curious about banding testicles, not the penis.

There are a lot of articles about "ball banding" on the internet. For example:

Depending on how long they are banded for the most serious danger would be a stroke caused by a blood clot travelling from the banded nuts to your brain.

I've heard of many guy keeping the bands on, including myself, for 45 minutes without any problem. According to "Trentag", a young man who successfully castrated himself with banding, it takes at least 2 hours to numb the balls and sac and kill them. After 2 hours, it would be foolish to remove the bands. As ambiguous said, it'd dangerous to free a blood clot into the blood stream. Trentag hasn't removed the bands, he rather cut his balls off and went to the ER.. This wouldn't be my favorite choice of castration, cutting oneself, even without pain, isn't an easy task.

What is your end goal, though?
Keep in mind, if castration is, that you are not a farm animal - and you can't just wait for them to dry up and fall off. No.

Curious about banding for play or for castration? You didn't say what your intent was except, "Is banding testicles dangerous?" Lot's of men band their testicles as a form of play or they like to experience the pain of banding their testicles. Most never really have any problems and many have been banding as a form of play for years. Is it dangerous to leave the bands on for more than an hour? Probably, though many "STATE" that they have left bands on their testicles longer than that, but that's when it can become dangerous. If you leave the bands on too long, let's say more than two hours, you might lose all feeling, the initial or original pain will subside and your testicles/scrotum will or can start to become gangrenous. That means your testicles are dying and if you don't release/cut off the bands immediately the chances of castration are great. The other problem of leaving them on for an extreme period of time is that you might cause a blood clot and that can be dangerous and deadly too. Lastly, keep in mind that though you can band for play or fun for years, one day the bands might actually crush one or both chords causing atrophy (withering or death). Constant banding over extended periods of time can weaken the chords and like an elastrator can eventually crush the chords over time. The crushed chord can no longer supply blood to the testicle(s) so then it atrophies/withers, becoming smaller and smaller until it's actually stops functioning. This is what an elastrator does. So banding the testicles can be used as a form of play, but you should not take chances and leave the bands on for more than an hour. Everyone is different and I believe not all testicles or chords have the same strength or tolerance of banding as others. Just be careful if you do this. I do know of one man who banded, got drunk, and woke up hours later. His testicles were dead and he went to the ER and had to have them removed. So don't band and drink. He said it was not his intention to castrate himself, though he had stated many times that he wished he was a eunuch. He got his wish.

Some people have banded for play for years without problems, some people have banded for play once and had nothing but problems for ever after. Banding as a recreational matter or as a serious move towards castration is not to be undertaken without doing your homework and being aware of the possibility of a result that is not what you desired. Be cautious, know what you are doing and, if you can after learning all that, have fun. --FLO--

What has not been mentioned is that after a few minutes there is pain. Depending on your anatomy your could damage your testicles. If you planing on leaving the band on to castrate your self, it can be done but its more than just banding. If you jest band you could end up DEAD. The old BME site did have postings on how to.....
Good Luck

Even short-term (minutes) of banding can cause permanent problems. I banded my hubby's testicles just for play once, leaving the band on for a very short time just to give him a thrill. He ended up with spermatoceles--hard lumps in his scrotum that don't go away. The largest feels almost like a third testicle, albeit smaller and lumpy. We haven't tried it since and don't plan to.

From my experience, the scrotum skin starts to burn until you just can't take it. If you use elastrator bands, do yourself a favor and wrap the area with something that keeps the bands from pinching the skin and makes it easier and less painful to cut the bands.

I'm with Sandi here.
Lets say every time you band 1% or 2% of the ability of produce testosterone is lost forever.
At the time you may not notice it but when you get to say 50 or 60 years old (Average loss of testosterone by this time about 40%-60% less than early 20's)
then I guess you will.
Its just a theory I'm putting out there and is not backed up by any medical facts.

Happy/sad tale follows:
I tried the banding thing, the injection thing and both caused unbelievable amounts of pain. This coming from a Vietnam vet who walked out of the bush on a broken ankle.
Don't try it.
I did something else that was equally stupid, but ultimately worked. It also landed me in psych eval for a few days.
Don't try it.
Best way is to find Dr. Arnikov (Is he still doing no-note orchies?).
Alternatively, find a sympathetic psychologist to write a note and take that to Dr. A. or someone closer. Who knows? Maybe during your conversations, you might find out something about why you want to become a eunuch.

Without going over my often told story again, the everclear injections worked well enough for my urologist, who I have the utmost confidence in, to agree to castrate me in the operating room of a local hospital. No going to someone with less than a sterling reputation in an office somewhere. I healed in the amount of time I was told it would take without any complications. No regrets.

I would give it all a good wash down there.
You may have broken the skin but If there is normal sensation within the banded area, then best guess without seeing it, would be that this will go away within the next day or two.
You may get a scab form on any broken skin.
That said if it does not seem to be healing then see a Doc.

Here, I'm reposting the question for amyone that's qurious.
The other day I banded with a simple rubber band, it wasn't on too terribly tight, but I left it on for about 10 hours. When I took it off there was a deep red mark on my scrotum, with something like on puss on part of it, will I be ok?

If it is bothering you this much see a consultant and don't lie about how it got there.
