Hello folks,
Can I pick someone's brains on the subject of the possible interaction of HRT and Mary Jane's herbal remedy? (I don't have anything in need of remediation, but it's always better to be sure;) )
I've been a chronic user since 1977, but right now I'm at a sort of fulcrum point in life. Due to this dreadful virus, and other factors, it could be a good time to give the stuff away.
Please, no general lectures on the evils of the weed. I think I've heard it all before. However, no body ever has mentioned any connections between THC and testosterone, and if there's info of course I want to know.
Thanks,
Billy.

Sorry again Valery,
Sometimes I think I'm just too smart for my own good. I was using the slang of my youth. Any reference to Mary Jane used to simply mean smoking marijuana.
I Tell you true, when I saw the jar of Mary Jane's herbal remedy I nearly fell off my chair, it was so funny to me. But thank you for your lightning ability to find so much info on the web. I guess you're a researcher for some organisation or other, or you should be. You have a magical talent there, and seem to be able to put your finger on just the right stuff.

Surely this tool helps someone (I don't know in what case). I learned about him only today from you. Therefore, I inquired on the Internet and saved the links.
Marijuana is rumored to be legal in some countries. And it is allowed for medical use. I heard about this from a doctor I knew for a long time.

(Sorry, my computer freezes). I am not worthy of your praise ...
Surely this medicine helps someone (I do not know in which case, I have never used it myself). I learned about such a remedy only today from you. This is the only reason I have asked on the internet and kept the links.
I heard from a doctor I know that in some countries, marijuana is quite legal when used for medical purposes.

Go on, lose the false modesty Valery. You're good at this.

Yeah, there are huge claims made for the stuff. I suspect a lot is just hype. Then again there are people with severe illnesses and conditions who seem to benefit greatly too. The water is very muddy, and just how good or bad these 'medications' are is still to be figured out properly.
As is so often the case, there are proper health workers advocating, then there are the unconscious charlatans who believe what they say but it's false, and then there are the all out rip off merchants who don't care if you live or die, so long as they get your money first. The combination produces a lot of confusion, a lot of false hope, and huge disappointments. But then there are the miracle stories out there too.
Anyway, So far nothing I can find would indicate that consuming marijuana and using HRT would conflict. So that's good.
Thanks.

Hi Billy,
I do not know much about the subject, but my web search yielded the following results. Studies conducted in the US and Denmark indicated raised levels of serum testosterone in subjects that had recently used marijuana.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/28395129/
I didn't read enough of the study to know why that was the case. It seems that the scientific community believes that there could be some sort of causal relationship between marijuana and hormones. If you are planning on using marijuana while undergoing HRT, it could be worthwhile to research further or ask a healthcare professional that you trust.
Regards,
Dagrynne

Hi Billy,
I found this article as well:
https://www.saragottfriedmd.com/top-10- ... marijuana/
It discusses marijuana's effects on several different hormones.
If you are not interested in the history of marijuana and it's effects on the brain, you can skip to the section titled "your hormones on cannabis."
Regards,
Dagrynne

I'm afraid I probably won't be of much help since I'm not too familiar with any connections between weed and hormones. However, I did notice that you specifically asked about interactions with HRT, so I did want to point out that any interactions with HRT could be different from those with the body's own endogenous hormone production. The latter is probably what any studies on this topic would look at.
For instance, it could be that weed raises natural T levels, but with exogenous HRT you are putting a fixed amount in your body either way.
But other interactions (such as if it turns out that weed increases aromatase and therefore causes more T to convert to E) could apply to both HRT and one's own hormone production.
As far as weed in general goes, I've partaken a few times but find that it is not my favorite. I wouldn't say that it makes me anxious or paranoid as others have said, but it does stimulate mental activity, and that can become a bit overwhelming at times. CBD, on the other hand, gives me all the good stuff without the unwanted effects.

OK,
From what I have read, it seems that pot may affect T, but up or down remains unclear.
In particular, I'm vary wary of any web site that purports to be about your health, but more than 40% of the page is advertising.
After a bit more hunting around, it seems that the medical profession is just as guilty of peddling opinion over fact if research is not strong and plentiful. Fundamentally, nobody really knows, because it's a rather obscure subset of a subset, if you know what I mean.
Thanks for your efforts in hunting down web pages that at least offer something.
Billy.

Hi folks,
Since I opened this thread, there have been interesting developments. Anecdotal to be sure, but very real none the less.
On Friday night my supply ran out. This is an ordinary occurrence with anything on the black market. I'm quite accustomed to the prospect of a few sleepless nights, depressed appetite, and diarrhea. Normally a somewhat depressed mood also is part of the process, but it's not that unbearable, and lasts about a week or so for me. Of more recent times, the supply chain has been, to be frank, surprisingly reliable. So it's actually been at least a couple of years since the last "dry patch".
So, do I feel like crap today. Locally, it's currently 10degC, (50degF). Ten minutes ago I had no shirt on, and my glasses were fogged from the vapour of my sweat evaporating. I am in the worst dirty mood I can remember in a long time. I'm keeping a lid on it, but lord help anyone who comes near. I feel like I'll rip their head off and shit down the hole.
Now I'm cold from the dampness of the sweating.
This is not the usual withdrawal that I'm so familiar with. This is properly awful. I can't help but wonder if the Canadian tests that showed that cannabis lifts T levels was more accurate than I first assumed. I'm wondering if I've been artificially holding levels high. The reason I'm thinking this might be the case is the tests showed that the biggest factor was not quantity of cannabis consumed, but how recently it was consumed.
Another observation that may not be very indicative- The morning wood has dry rot today, only at about half mast, and I really couldn't care just now. This might be part of the normal withdrawal thing though.
Oddly enough, I dreamt and remembered it last night. First time in decades. It was about a rather intense blow job. Drat it, I only stumbled on the action amongst some old wrecked cars in a paddock somewhere, while I was looking for parts to salvage. I do remember apologising for interrupting, and encouraging a continuation before I moved on.:-\
In any case, as I said at the start, this is all anecdote and I'm only writing because someone might find it interesting or somehow useful in the future.
Billy.
