This version looks very good, and, of course, also matches the look and feel of this forum. All the bits and pieces seem to display and work correctly.

B, looks great, glad you took out the Green. The format is much better also.
Question, will there be a surch engine? based on a word surch like Simon or by Author or date?
At any rate it looks real good.

I'd love to see a search engine that would allow searching by story subject ... You, know testicles - penectomy and such.
I suspect that sort of search may be more than is possible, though.
Still, this new Index looks really good, especially if one could click on the column headers to do the 'sort' by the chosen column. In other words, for example, click on "Author" and get back the index list sorted by, uh, author.
I don't know if vBul allows that functionality, but it is the sort of thing I use all the time when looking at e-mail archives on my machines or large groups of files, or images - whatever.
Being able to change the sort criteria from story name to author or class or whatever would go a long way toward making the index more useful and user friendly.
Thanks for working on this!
Tom

TomI Have to agree, it looks fantastic.
Even though the old one was very user friendly, as long as you were not using an analog dialup connection.(a thing of the far past, or with my notebook on journeys).
I too was wondering about a good search engine.
You remeber this story you read, but forgot the author and the name of the story.
You knew it was about penectomy and the main caracters name.
Happens to me all the time and I have to give up searching because of the vast amout of stories on the archive.
Thanks for the best site on the web.
Yours sincerely,
Antonia

Are you guys clicking the link on this thread? Or typing it in? If you are typing it you have to have the http:// because the port (81) is specified.
The page is there and I can't imagine any technical reason why you would have trouble seeing it.
Browser? Version? OS?

I am clicking on the link in this thread. I still get a 404 error. The page almost loaded fully before I got the error this time.
Browser: Internet Explorer Ver. 6.0.2800.1106, SP1
OS: Win XP Home, SP1
BTW, from what I do see for a second, it does look nice.

The page only loads with the header, then it reroutes to this:
<TABLE cellSpacing=5 cellPadding=3 width=400><TBODY><TR><TD id=tableProps vAlign=top align=left>res://C:WINNTsystem32shdoclc.dll/pagerror.gif</TD><TD id=tableProps2 vAlign=center align=left width=360>The page cannot be found

<LI id=list2>Open the<SCRIPT> Homepage(); </SCRIPT>
www.eunuch.org:81 (
http://www.eunuch.org:81/) home page, and then look for links to the information you want. <LI id=list3>Click the res://C:WINNTsystem32shdoclc.dll/back.gif Back (javascript:history.back(1)) button to try another link.

Odd.
It is still working perfectly from here. (And yes I did verify that I am actually getting it from the server, not from a local cache.)
Browser: Camino v0.7+ (2004021508),
OS: OS X 10.3.2, build 7D24 (Darwin 7.2.0)
I have no idea why you are getting a '404.'

I took out some of the extra vBulletin related stuff, javascript, etc. so that now the page loads without generating an error in IE ... so please to try again and report

Ok, it loaded fine. Looks nice, very clean and streamlined.

Looks good, and with the removal of the extra stuff even loads and displays a bit faster.
I do note that with selections from the index automatically loading into a new window (a good thing) that the 'go back where you came from' link at the bottom of storys has nowhere to go, and therefore fails. It's not a biggie, but to someone who doesn't know why it is happening it could be annoying.
Take care,
Tom

So do people like the stories to open in a seperate window? I can of course change that.

My vote: No Preference.
(I generally override the HTML on that choice anyway, and have things like stories open in a new tab of the same window. Much easier to handle in that manner.)
Good work Bryan!

I think it's a bit easier to have a seperate window open. I like it that way.
