Is the Doctor In? (Where's Dr Kimmel?)

I received this in an email today, and find it very disturbing.

If anyone has any idea what's going on, please let us know!

Some editing has been done for anonymity purposes:

"Just a brief message and question here. Been here in New Jersey on a visit, and drove to Philadelphia. Naturally, we had to pass (Kimmel's office) but were shocked to see no external evidence that he is still in residence! His name is gone from the door and all legends, marks, signs, etc. have been removed from the building. Also, a silvered film has been applied to the door and window glass that blocks any possibility of seeing into the interior.

We're a bit surprised because Kimmel has never seemed to be much worried about publicity, but perhaps that has changed. Do any of you know what has happened? I visited the EA and searched the message boards, but I could find no evidence of a thread mentioning either his retirement or going "underground". If any of you have any information, please share it."

Just an add-on here.

I just called the office, and granted it's Saturday, so I got the answering machine. That's still there and turned on, it would seem.

Perhaps he moved down the street?

I intend to call Monday and try and find something out about this, before panic sets in in the streets!👀

If anyone knows, please let us know.

Thank you.

Not to alarm folks here on the EA, but my partner and I were sightseeing in Philadelphia last Thursday (23 February), and we took an obligatory turn past Dr Kimmel's office. We were very surprised to see no external evidence that the doctor was still in residence. His name, all signs, plaques & information had been removed from the building and doors. In addition, the window and door glass had been covered with silvered film which prevented one from seeing into the interior. We were not able to stop as we were on our way back to New Jersey. I checked the Message Boards but could find no other posts addressing the topic.

Dr Kimmel has never seemed too disturbed by either "bad press" or public opinion, but this sudden cloaking of his office in anonymity may signal a change.

Has anyone here had any recent communication with his office? Is he still practicing? I would hate to see probably the only urological surgeon performing voluntary castrations withdraw his services from our community.

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

I went ahead and merged these threads.

There is this thread (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=8440) that mentions having a scheduled appointment with Dr. Kimmel on March 28, so he is doing surgery. However it does not mention the location. Someone who's never been there before would not know if he has moved.

I can only hazard a guess, but my guess would be

(A) he has removed his name for anomaly,

(B) he has moved to a new location,

(C) he is preparing for retirement, and/or,

(D) he is turning the practice over to someone else.

Either way he still has contracted to do a surgery at the end of March. It would be sad if he were to close his doors, although you can't blame him if he wants to retire. He has helped many folks over the years.

I'm definitely glad I was done when I was :) Even if nothing is up this time, he can't be that far from retirement.

I think Kimmel is very secretive about what he does and apparently doesn't want anyone to know. At least that was the case with me. He wouldn't call my doctor for follow up treatment or for treatment of the infection I developed after he promised he would. I assume he simply didn't want her to know he was the one who did it.

Just to let others know, I still plan on calling his office tomorrow on my lunch break and finding out the scoop. If nothing else, it will let him know that SOMEONE noticed.

Thanks Paolo! Please let us know how it goes! As Plix said, I'm feeling glad I had this done when I did too.

And this made me realize how serious I was about the whole thing. I try to imagine what it would feel like to be told I couldn't be done by a 'professional'. If this were the case, then I'm sure - eventually - would have ended up putting my life in the hands of an underground cutter.

It's important for the rest of the world to know this. If anything has happened - for whatever reason - it will put a large number of people in danger.

I just got off the phone with Kimmell's office and the building is being remodeled / repaired. That's all. They have no plans on shutting down. Just a bit of modernization and clean up. No need to panic.

May I 'axe', does Dr. Kimmel have a information / website like Felix Spector did?

According to Google, no.

Thanks, Paolo. My apologies if I alarmed people here with my original question abt Dr Kimmel. I was curious at the external changes in his office, which made the place more anonymous than I'd ever see it. Living realtively close to Philly, I've been past it a number of times since my original visit. Since my post above, someone told me the Doc owns the building, which makes the modifications seem logical.

I don't visit the EA but once every few months, so I'm usually not up-to-date on things here. When I found no discussion on the topic, I figured it would be worthwhile to post. At least now, anyone headed there for surgery will know not to expect to find his name outside the door.

Thanks to all.

Greg

No, Dr. Kimmel does not have a web site. He even mentioned this fact in my telephone conversation with him on February 13th. He works pretty much by referral or word of mouth.

Paolo has posted the Doctor's current address and telephone numbers correctly.

I have confirmed this same information with the doctor's office as I have an appointment with the good Doctor on March 24th.

and don't Mistake 1301 for 2301. The day before my surgery with Kimmel, I and a friend spent several hours walking up and down Pennsylvania Avenue when the entire time I had memorized the wrong address.

1301 doesn't even exist.

Kind of a shame his address isn't 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue...in some other city on the east coast.

Just a thought. 😄

The man living at that address is doing his best to emasculate the entire country.

Kimmel explained to me the other day, that he sold the building to a Consortium (or something like that) and that they were going to move 15 doctors into the building.

Fifteen Doctors that do what Doctor Kimmel does? Wow, now that would be a clinic alright. I'd certainly have less aprehension with younger, more attentive doctors.

When I called, they answered the phone "Kimmell Urological" or something like that and mentioned there were going to be several doctors in the renovated offices. I didn't think to ask if Kimmell was going to be more than a "one man show" now or not.

They won't be doing what Kimmel does from the sounds of it, but will be simply a medical office available to many different kinds of doctors.

Why won't they be doing what Kimmel does? Surely anyone who agrees to start essentially a 'Doctor's Mall', knows what the other Doctors would be doing.

Well here's my take on it. If you want to have Kimmel do your orchiectomy, you might want to get it done sooner then later. Although he conceded on my visit he would continue to practice, I don't think he's got too many years left. Selling the building he owns will give him a few nice million to retire on. Just speculation, but the guy isn't getting a younger.
