I'm writing on behalf of bootjt (http://www.eunuch.org/vbulletin/member.php?u=25261) who will be at the ORR tomorrow! I hope nobody minds me starting this thread, because I wanted to make a bit of a fuss. He is not the sort of person to make a big deal out of this, (and I certainly don't want to steal anyones' thunder!) but I wanted to start this thread to wish him all the very best on his big day - and to hope everything goes as well and wish for a speedy recovery!

Who knows, maybe this can even be a good place for updates?

I wish him all the luck on the operation and the start of his new life. Hope his recovery will be fast and easy. Hope he will be as happy as I am with my castration.

No one should mind such a thread. Although it's now been ~6 years ago, my day of elective castration was definitely one of the biggest of my life - in a very positive way. The high I experienced can never be repeated even if it was quite short and fleeting. I can only wish that his own experience will be every bit as positive.

Just an update to say surgery went well yesterday! He said he had "a good nights sleep, not uncomfortable at all"

I took the liberty of txt-ing him the wonderful posts here, and his reponse was : "How very kind people are! I'm touched!". He will likely be resting for the next couple of days.

The only thing I'm questioning is that no medications were given after the operation. I guess fewer medications is generally best where possible - but I would have thought antibiotics at least would be desirable?

While I'm not certain the medications are a big deal one way or the other, I generally side with fewer is better. Many have side effects. Some of us are alergic to some. There's no need to provide anti-bacterial meds without signs of infection. Of course, at the first sign there may be some infection, the quicker the proper meds are ingested the better.

Dr. Kimmel gave me a shot of antibiotics prior to surgery, I thought it was a pain killer, but when I asked him, he said it was antibiotics. Did Bootjt get a shot like that? Hash

I don't know, but I think bootjt will be online soon so he will be able to say

While at Dr Kimmels' I got a cocktail of things, a shot of painkillers (I think anti-biotics too) followed by valium and anti-biotics in pill form afterwards and still managed to get an infection somehow. Though I did miss one or two points where I should have taken anti-biotics after the surgery. I suppose that's why I was concerned. An infection like that can be so very uncomfortable.

Congratulations to Bootjt on his decision to proceed with his recent surgery! I hope everything went well, that he is well on his way through his recovery and that he is pleased with the outcome.

Tell him to keep the incision and related area as clean as possible and to take those antibiotics faithfully.

My thoughts are with him!

Firstly, thank you all for your concern and best wishes, I am now back home and although very tiered after the trip home am now fine. (A bit sore but very pleased with myself)!

I would also like to thank ORR their care of me and friendship extended to me was wonderful.

Arriving Sunday morning I met Steve, the surgeon an we chatted as we waited for the rest of the team to arrive.

When they arrived the final preparations for surgery were made (i.e. equipment prepped etc, used to do it before hand, but due to 'no shows' now done on arrival).

At last (time was going very slowly) I shown to the surgery floor, to the room I would spend the next 3 nights in, given a gown and we got down to business (after I had removed my piercings!). The operating room was next door.

The operation was performed under local anaesthetic, which was the worst bit, I grabbed Steve's ass when one of the needles went in causing some amusement. Indeed this incident set the scene for the rest of the operation there was a very light friendly feel in air from all 5 of us resulting in time passing quickly. I would just like to point out, should it be misinterpreted that the operation was carried out in a very professional way, we just all enjoyed it!

One further laughter causing point was as an agitated conversation broke out, in French, thinking something was wrong I said "What's wrong", Steve laughed and said we are arguing about who will sever your second ball! In the end my balls were severed by two women!

Post care was exceptional I was helped to the patient room and told in no uncertain terms to lie flat (my knees were raised). After an hour I was able to have a coffee. The after care continued with strict instructions on not getting up on my own etc.

To sum up, I was cared for by Steve until I left the clinic on Wednesday morning, we had a good time and my post recovery was very enjoyable.

I would just like to comment on antibiotics or lack of them!

Personally I don't like antibiotics for the sake of them. If they are taken when an infection is not present, then all that happens is the body builds a resistance to them and then if they are required, they are not as effective!

I am not showing any signs of an infection at the moment, so they are not needed, in my opinion.

I've been to the O-R-R site and viewed their "webinar" on castration. It was very informative. It looks like a good option and a nice country to visit besides. Did you to any touring beforehand?

What about the grand total? Trip....plus operation...etc...

Hi, the cost of the opeation/aftercare was £1,500 travelling by Eurostar about £100, hotel for first night about £60.
