I visit this site regularly and the chat room and story board and am trying to understand what draws so many men to this subject.

Firstly is it a gay thing as most do seem to be gay? Is this a subconscious dislike of being gay and societies underlying abhorrence at homosexuality? Do alot of gay men see castration as a cure?

Or is it a case of men no longer feeling secure in theeir role and feeling mentally castrated by women taking over mens traditional roles and surpasing men in many fields? Do men now dislike being identified as male?

Is this a growing desire in the male population?

well for me there's a whole variety of reasons - some of which i've mentioned before in other posts and others I haven't...

I think the first time it entered my head was after a particularly messy break up with my first ever boyfriend (who, btw, was a complete shit!) I used to have frequent fantasies about cutting off his cock / balls as a way of getting revenge for how he hurt me. The revenge feelings gradually subsided, but the thought was still there, so you could say my 'introduction' to the idea was definitely one of S&M ; this is quite strange in itself, as the classic S&M scene does very little to arouse me... but I digress...

Anyways, after a time and lots of fantasizing I found that i'd become interested in the idea of having castration / penectomy myself !?! Now, I can't pinpoint a time or event that triggered these feelings towards myself but I can definitely say that it's not from feelings of self-loathing in any way at all - in fact, I find it incredibly hot! i'm comfortable with who I am / what I am and my interest in achieving castration wouldn't be as a form of self-punishment for sure.

One reason that springs to mind is the sense of regaining control - some other members have mentioned that they have felt 'out of control' thru the effect of testosterone on their bodies and wish to regain complete control over their hormones, etc... I suppose I can relate to this - at times, my sex-drive has become so high, it would be almost unbearable ; almost as if my entire life revolved around sex (which it doesn't) - cutting my balls off would certainly allow me to eliminate the problem once and for all, as I could adjust my HRT to the level I felt comfortable with.

I agree that society as a whole still has some major 'issues' when it comes to accepting those of us who are 'different' from the norm (and I don't just mean sexuality), but i'd never consider this as a way of gaining acceptance / approval (mainly 'cos i'm too bloody minded to conform to anything! ). Whether other members feel the same or not? only time (and many posts) will tell... but I think i've prattled on for long enough, so i'll let someone else 'take the floor'...

There are probably as many reasons as there are people considering it.

For some, it's a fantasy.

For others, it is a way to control unwanted urges or what they believe to be an uncontrollable libido.

I'm sure for some it is something they can control in what they see as an uncontrolled life.

If you read some of the stories from those who have had it done, they really regret it, others love it.

For some, it may be the start down the path of transexualism.

In no case should it be untertaken lightly.

It is NOT just a "gay" thing. I am not homosexual, yet I desire castration.

No, it isn't JUST a gay thing, but I wonder if it isn't commoner among gays brought up in a homophobic environment. I am gay and I grew up in a homophobic time and in a homophobic environment. I think that I had two reasons for desiring to be castrated.

One was to punish myself for being "queer". I was brought up to regard homosexuals as vile, loathesome, disgusting, and depraved. Naturally, I felt intense guilt and self-loathing.

The other reason was to eradicate my "dirty unnatural urges". Every time I had gay sex, I felt defiled afterward. By the time I was 18, my guilt feelings had made me impotent. However, this had no effect on my desire to perform fellatio. Only cowardice saved me from suicide.

I really think that I would have been better off had I been castrated as I desired.

In my case my fantasies of being voluntarily castrated at the request of a woman are one component of a triad whose other two legs are being subject to female domination in a marital context and being able, thanks to a wonderful new machine, to permanently transform myself into an actual woman, the machine not merely givining me xx chromosomes and female primary and secondary sexual organs, but reducing my stature, widening the hips, giving me a plum-shaped butt, etc. (It even causes the hair to grow long!) In this fantasy the transformation clinic offers a package deal (which I always sign up for) including artificial insemination following the change, pre-natal care, and delivery of the baby. Now while these three fantasies may seem different, they perhaps reflect a common rejection of maleness, despite the fact that I am strongly attracted to women (though as a result of shyness am still a virgin). I think in the end when it comes to sexual desires one can quote Shakespeare: "Tell me where is fancy bred, in the heart of in the head, how begot, how nourished, reply, reply."

About castration fantasies and men who want to be castrated. It is not mostly a gay thing, or mostly a straight thing. Look at the index in the Stories Archive. The number of straight stories and the number of gay stories are about the same, so I don't think castration fantasies and men who want to be castrated has anything to do with one's sexual orientation.

Why do some men have castration fantasies, why do some men want to be castrated? The reasons are varied and diverse. Each man who has castration fantasies or who wants castration is an individual. These men's reasons for wanting this are as individual as the men who want it. Yes there are common themes many of these men can relate to, but each probably has his own individual story.

What causes some men to have castration fantasies or to want castration? Again, the causes of castration fantasies and what causes some men to want castration is probably as varied, diverse, and individual as the individual men who have these fantasies or who want castration. Again, while there are probably common themes many of these men can relate to, each man is an individual case and an individual situation.

The desire to be castrated is something that I'm still exploring. I've always had a wildly experimental attitude toward sexual matters and this carries through to castration. So, there is a strong erotic fetishistic element for me. It's more of a need to alter my sexuality than to nullify it. I have tried to determine how far back into my life the interest goes but every time I think I've reached the beginning I realize that there was something even earlier that relates to my need. I don't want to start off wrong so I'll say that I agree with your conclusion. But not your maths.

If the the gay and strait stories are about the same one should take into account that gays form a minority smaller than straits so proportionally gay contributions are actually much more prevalent. If, for the sake of argument, gays are 1/10 of the population then contributing equal numbers suggests that a gay man is 10 time more likely to think of castration than a strait one.

However I'm not saying that this is actually the case. My guess is that if there appears to be an over representation of gays here it is not because our orientation makes us more prone to want castration but because being gay we've already had to face big issues over gender, orientation and how we fit into society (or fail to) and once having done that it's going to be easier to face up to the stranger related questions.

I suspect it's just the same as I see at SM Pride events where the numbers gays and lesbians appear to be disproportionately large yet we're all aware that there are loads of kinky heteros out in suburbia, behind their lace curtains, who just don't do public stuff.

I don't think I really want to be castrated because once is all it takes. However, I get really turned on by the thought. I gay and think I am still shamed about that fact. I myself have no real use for my genitals anymore. I think I would feel and look better without them being in the way.

I've thought about going nullo, but since I am a nudist, I felt that I should keep my penis to avoid being stared at. Also, my wife dislikes the thought of me becoming a nullo. I plan to keep my scrotum but with no implants. My wife likes to fondle my scrotum.

Statistically, using the points raised by Calmeilles, the only thing your observation about the fiction archives indicates is that authors writing with gay themes are simply more prolific....

Thanx for all the replies to my question.It is very interesting to read all the views and some answers to the why.s. I am not advocating that gay men should be ashamed or anything like that,it was just experience from the chat room that the greater number of men are gay or men who haven't accepted the fact they are gay.

I am straight and will be castrated eventually but medically as my balls never really developed and are ultra tiny and dont function as normal.They cause me alot of embarrassment and no pleasure so recommended removal and implants by my doctor but am still deciding as all you eunuchs know the after effects are not that nice in some.

I was curios to see how many men felt mentally castrated already by their new role in modern society and by the media and women but from the answers this doesnt seem to be the case

Castration desire, a gay or a straight thing?

As a teenager, I used to play with my balls whenever I had the opportunity; they seemed to be the focus of my pleasuring myself. No masturbation session would pass without my balls being abused, mainly through squeezing or tying. From those early times I masturbate three or more times a day.

When I started having sex with girls, the desire to have my balls at the centre of sexual pleasure didn't diminish at all. In fact, as time passed, new activities such as electro, and heat became the norm. As my the women I encountered for sexual activity were generally a bit older than me, most enjoyed inflicting a level of torture on my jewels.

The introduction of third parties (either women of men) into the sexual activities by my mid twenties, led to an increase in the level of ball play. Actually, by this time I found it increasingly difficult to orgasm if the abuse was not hard enough. At this time I had never considered more than just jacking-off with another guy, and then only in the presence of a woman.

Finding that most of the women that I had been with did not play hard enough, I started visiting men's leather clubs (mainly in Berlin) to get a harder level of activity. But still only masturbating, and with no penetrative sex with other men.

By my early thirties, I started to crave the hard abuse sessions. As time passed I found that I could withstand higher levels of inflicted pain. Some months passed, and gradually my sexual appetite started to return. Occasional jacking sessions became more frequent, and eventually back to three or more a day. However, I found that my balls were no longer the centre of my orgasms. In fact with little feeling in them at all, they just seemed to be in the way. This I suppose is the point when I started to think that maybe I should have had them removed.

I felt that sexually I was changing. By this time I had no desire for women at all. I met a guy who eventually became my partner for a couple of years, and he became the centre of my live. Sex was good! But as all good things this came to an end.

Since then I have had many sexual encounters, and my sex drive is as full-on as ever. I now feel that in my mid-forties, it is time to reduce my sex drive or at least to control it, and remove what is unwanted. I shall not rush into it. Research and discussions are important.

Could another reason be hormones? Hormones can really dominate you, I have been trough both gender hormones and can say say can mess up your life. Testosteron makes you do things, when I really dont wanna masturbate, it makes me do it, female hormones can make one sad and depressed. Then hormones do things to your body, from loosing hair in some areas to gain in others, etc.

I really like the idea of not having hormones at high levels in my system anymore. Or of being able to control them
