Reputation Points
Reputation Points
No one has lost any reputation points, even though many of us HAVE lost several of the green or gold pip marks, or gold stars.
I went into the systems innards and reset some of the pip counter limits.
A dark green pip is = 250 points
a light green pip is = 500 points
a golden pip is = 1,500 points
a golden star is = 20,000 points
These values are double what they were set at before. I have also set the limits so that more of the small pips show before being converted to the next level.
I did this so that the display is a bit more compact, and as the system accumulates more points for more folks, it will provide a better display.
Again, no one has lost any points because of this.
****************************************
The way the point system is set up to work, at minimum, is as follows:
Everyone starts with +10 points for registering.
For every 120 days you are a registered member, you gain 1 point.
For each 10 posts you make, you gan an additional point.
For every 15 points you obtain from any source, you gan one extra point (15=16).
You may give a maximum of 10 reputation clicks per 24 hour period (that is, you can only add to other's rep 10 times in any continuous 24 hour period).
You must give reputation points to at least 5 different members before you may repeat points to someone previously touched by you.
Limit: You actually give NO points to anyone, even when clicking them, until you have BOTH a total of 25 points (you start with 10), AND a total of 5 posts.
Fi9nally, the more points you receive from others, the greater the value of the points you may give to others. For example, someone with 5,000 points will be able to bestow about 500 points to another.

Pip, pip, hurray!
I think you should give yourself one quadrillion gold stars for the new avatar.
Would that many fit on my screen?
As I've said before, excellent work Herr Administrator!

All good of course, but I can no longer pass as a military dictator of a small country.

Just added some bling for you. Does that help improve the appearance of the rows of medals?

Yes, it's great. Thank You. I now have more stars than General Petraeus and that is counting both his epaulettes

Jema found the pic, and used her arc welder to paste my mug on there. I should look so svelte - well actually I do, but we mustn't be boastful.

I have to fondle five other strangers before I can fondle the same man again?
as Winnie the Pooh would say, "Oh, Bother"

For that you'd have to get IE to break into the code and change the color commands. We'd risk implosion if I went anywhere near that. Sorry, dear, gold and green will just have to work with your lacquer.

Pink would match the Sister's cool chainsaw too!
I wonder if we might help the environment by cutting down the rain forests with solar-powered pink chainsaws. I may not have thought that through completely, but the pink buzz saw tickles my ... interest.

On the other hand, gold and green are just fine, NN says as he hears the chainsaw buzz to life. I was just joking about pink. Buzz, buzz, buzz. I must say you wave that around quite well...
May all avatars be above-average, and may some equal the masterpiece of the Kristoff Jema collaboration. It really is very good. Pink shades work well there, but again not for pips. Buzz, buzz, buzz.
I'm hiding in either Poland or Austria for the rest of the day.

Is there a way we can see how many actual points we have without counting the pips of each color, multiplying them by the values above and then adding everything together?

Nope. Not that I am aware of, unless I go into the guts and look. And I ain't gonna. So just assume you have about a cagillion.
Take that back. Left click the reputatiuon icon on one of your own posts. It should bring up a total point count.

Re: Reputation Points
Just click on User CP and you can see your total number of points. I checked them out after I noticed some stars were missing. Curious as to whom I pissed off this time.

Re: Reputation Points
I'm wondering if I might redeem some of my points for valuable offers, like an all-expenses paid vacation in Hawaii? Of course, I'd expect a cute young man to accompany me, too.
OK, OK... I guess asking for Hawaii's pushing it. International Falls or Rochester, perhaps? Not so cute older man as my guest, like my age maybe?

Good idea Todd. In my case, I'd want:
* a used car than runs
* a better job
* a female, big-boobed blonde who adores senile wolves
* and a house in Minnesotta

The user CP page says that I have over 20,000 points but I do not have any golden stars.

The stars are worth 20,000 points AFTER you have the points that earn all the little pips. I don't remember how many of those you need ahead of time before the stars show up to make you look like a third world general.
