We received numerous complaints from users about him.

A couple of members reported getting PM's and/or emails that were beginning to scare them, and requested their registrations be removed to get away from him.

When complaints like these come from users with a good post count, and who have been around for a while, then action needs to be taken.

When a member becomes a perceived menace to other members, any action, however drastic, is justified. However, ISP bans, admittedly the last resort, can be very unfair to others.

I once tried to join a forum which interested me, only to be told that I was banned. I wrote to the administrator in charge of applications and asked how I could be banned if I wasn't even a member yet. He didn't deign to reply. :(

I wrote him again politely reminding him that when an applicant writes a letter of enquiry, common courtesy dictates that one reply. He ignored that one also. 😠

I learned from another administrator of that forum who is a member of

a forum to which I belong, that I was the innocent victim of an ISP ban. After she straightened things out, I might have joined, but I wasn't sure that I qualified for membership and I was still exasperated by the other administrator's attitude. So, I pursued the matter no further. :-\

For what it is worth, I've only done one ISP ban - that is very rare action to take, and only when critical. That particular individual made many threats and had the capability of carrying them out - no, not Salami, who is largely a blow-hard. I looked at the list and there are, I think, 6-8 ISP bans worldwide on our system. I suspect 4-5 of them could be lifted. I've had two individuals in NZ affected by one of them - and I am NOT lifting that ban, ever.

What gets to be a real drastic action is when the Evil Overlord gets super-pissed and bans an "entire fucking country!" Watch out - the world will rock!

OTOH, I will respond to most any email I get from board members enquiring about problems here. Some I get are just crap not worth responding to - like the ones calling us freaks, etc. If I make a ban, I will usually list a reason for it. But still, I am very protective of this place, and will continue to be.

Soap box has been replaced under the park bench. 📢

If you speak about IP ban, then this is quite ineffective. Most home users have dynamic IP's that are assigned to them when they become active and released when they stop using net.

This IP could have been in use by other user who was actually banned.

The simplest solution is to power down your cable or adsl modem and power up. It is highly unlikely the same IP address will be assigned to you.

There's a way around that, which we won't discuss.

Speaking of whatever happened to? Whatever happened to Jessica aka TransgirlNY23 or was it 23NYTransgirl? Hopefully she got her wish and found a good surgeon and married a doctor and has a big family and the white picket fence?

She just disappeared like many others. Just stopped coming around. If I recall her account was deleted as inactive after 365 days.

I do often wonder what happens to so many people...

I guess some find what they are seeking SRS, Orchiectomy and feel they no longer need EA?

Others may get a taste of reality be it chemical castration or whatever and don't like it and leave.

Others just beam up to the mothership and return to Comet Kahotek????

I am wondering about Jessica too. She used to keep in touch with me online even after she left here, and I even had the privilege of meeting her in person once. But I have not heard from her in well over a year now. The last time she contacted me, she told me she was making arrangements to adopt a baby from a pregnant friend. Whether it ever happened or not, or where she is now, I have no idea.

I'd have left this rock long ago if I could get the chuffin' T.A.R.D.I.S. working properly ;)

So I stick around (until I get the parts for the helmlic regulator) with the good people of the EA!

I was pondering some of our regulars who vanished and got a PM from Z who I thought was one of the lost so that was nice.

Did she say why she left? Hopefully nothing bad happened. Anywho if you ever do hear from the Princess (Jessica aka TransgirlNY23) tell her hello and some of us wonder what happened to her and if she is ok. Ok?

If she did adopt a child ( new born), from experience Princess (Jessica aka TransgirlNY23) would not have any time until after the treble TWOs :D

You know what? that makes a lot of sense. I'm happy for her I hope she got the life she wanted. I still think she should write a book. A person who goes from Soldier in Afganastan to our Princess Jessica. That would make some interesting reading...

Update: I decided to google an old screenname I had for Jessica to see if I could find anything. I stumbled across a Myspace profile. The profile matches her name, city she lived in last I heard from her, age she would be now, and the picture looks a lot like her. For these reasons I believe it is safe to assume this is her profile and that she is alive and well. Last login was just a day ago.

Her profile states that she has what I would consider a very respectable job, and her income is solidly within middle class range. So apparently she is doing pretty well for herself.

According to posts in her blog as well as posts she has made to the profiles of her friends, she seems for the most part in great spirits and doing well.

This is pure speculation, but I believe the reason she no longer visits this site or contacts any of us is because she has moved on and is trying to live her life as an ordinary young woman. Her profile makes no mention of her past.

I will miss her, but I respect and understand her decision to want to distance herself from her past. I wish her only the best for her future. She deserves nothing less.
