Also a married man. We did a four year chemical trial that turned out to be a way of life. After your six-month experiment you should have gotten a flavor if it is right for you and the relationship. In our case I was monitored by our doctor.

Another prayer for Uncle Flo. Cancer it a bitch but there are a lot of new aggressive treatments. Hoping for the best but understand the seriousness of this. Hang in there.

1. If you have already had genital surgery, was it a castration (i.e. an orchiectomy only), a penectomy, or a nullification (i.e., both an orchiectomy and a penectomy)?
orchiectomy -- by a local urologist in the USA.

You are not alone. There are quite a few married men with similar stories. With us, a bit different reason but the same end results. Mismatched libido with my wife. Initiated a discussion on this. She did not want her drive increase. So, did a four year chem trial. Then ethanol injections when she ...

Mbrace05 ... great news. I had mine done late last year by a local urologist. Easy operation. Welcome to the club.
Was easier than my old-fashioned scalpel vasectomy. Wife later said we should have had an orchiectomy instead of that vasectomy.
Glad to see you here,
Don

Nulloneed,
I would be cautious about doing half-steps. For example, it may be much harder, surgically, to shrink a penis thant to remove it. I was on Androcur for a few years and it gives you a great idea what it is like to be castrated. Outside of the greater comfort without balls, there was ...

Seanthomas ... understand your change. Mine was due to a mutual decision with my wife (mismatched libido). But, we experienced all you talked about. Have not removed the empty scrotum. Has been about ten months since my orchiectomy, seems fine having the extra flap.

Re: Looking for advice
Experiment nailed it. In addition, if the goal is very low testosterone/libido there are side effects to consider. A chemical trial is reversible. Also helps to have a supportive partner. Several times during my chem trial I wanted to quit. My wife was my rock, helping me push through the hard parts ...

Amazon and Redbubble.com have them. Amazon has the bold "EUNUCH AND PROUD" shirt while Redbubble has more subtle that just state "EUNUCH."

Mythbusters did an episode including this. Only if you are relatively close will you be shocked. Further away the stream is not continuous and will not conduct. Saw Racerboy posted similarly.

Mike, I found the transition seamless. The experience was the same. Great way to have a non-permanent test run.

Mike,
My story is similar to years. In our case, mismatched libido. Mine very high and my wife very low. We did a chemical castration trial for four years before doing anything permanent. After two years it became a way of life. Saved our marriage. Good luck.

Welcome to the group. You will find that quite a few of us are in your situation. My wife and I did a Depo Provera and then Androcur trial for four years before deciding to make it permanent.

Re: When was castration right for you ?
I became a eunuch at 57. Looking back, I should have been castrated instead of my vasectomy after our last child was born, when I was 39. Only after my libido tanked did my wife say she never liked penetrative sex. Would have eliminated a lot of frustration if done earlier.

I found there is quite a bit of clarity when the fog of testosterone is lifted. My wife had a similar reaction.
