search word eunuch in google

Post by erikboy (imported) »

Just a notice

I think a week or two ago, when the word 'eunuch' was put into google search, second result was www.eunuch.org with some certain related sites beside. That kind of order has been I think for two or more years.

Today there was no www.eunuch.org found in the first five pages of search...

Thats unusual I think. Is it somekind of censor working somewhere or what? Googles new policy? If that is the case, then this tendency is littlebit alarming. Another attempt to control an internet. If there is EA admins involved then I could understand..

I have googled the same and got eunuch.org as first result. Second was from wikipedia and so on. (that was google.ru). Logged out of google - so this wouldn't affect results - got the same.

Cleaned out google's cookies (it tracks you, and tries to personalise search results) - got the same.

So may be it is a glitch?

PS. checked other search engines

Yandex - suggests eunuch.org while typing, gives it as a second link

Yahoo! - gives eunuch archive as the first link, but doesn't suggest

rambler - knows nothing about eunuch.org (at least on first 3 pages)

bing - same - doesn't give eunuch.org as a result.

Google is continuously changing and improving its search engine algorithms. Thefraj, who works as a search engine optimization professional, first noticed that the Eunuch Archive had dropped out of at least the first 1,000 hits on Google for the term "eunuch" yesterday morning. He peeked behind the scenes and found a few lines of code on the Archive front page that may be the reason that we were dropped.

A letter pin-pointing the possible source of the problem has been sent to the members of the Archive crew who have the power to change the coding. If this does fix the problem, it will still take a while for Google to discover us again.

If we're not back at the top of the Google search within a couple of days, we'll need to look farther for the solution.

Could this have anything to do with the German letters?

Hear hear! I absolutely, positively agree most lyphatically that we need to blame Canada for more things! Ever since they messed up my childhood by cofusing me so terribly, introducing this "Canada Dry" ginger ale stuff... Then if that wasn't enough, the sent us "Captain James T. Kirk." They just never know when enough is enough, they sent us the late John Candy (the world is a lesser place without his brilliant humor).

Recently, I rented a Canadian movie... French title was "Le Grande Seduction" or something like that. That movie was totally horribley enthralling, I had to watch it more than once and I was still laughing at the way the whole villiage got together on their "Grande Seduction" of the young doctor... sorta like "Waking Ned Divine" only in French.

Yes, I would have spent many many many more hours pulling weeds and keeping my terrible yard cleaner if it were not for all the horribly entertaining stuff that those devious Canadians send our way. So.... it is clear, when someone looks at my delapidated home, unkept yard, and neglected old jalopy that I drive, and they ask why? Well, it is CLEAR, BLAME CANADA!

Yes we Canuks are a crafty bunch. For years our carefully planned invasion of the grand old USA has gone unchecked. Our writers and actors now comprise most of your entertainment industry. Slowly but surely feeding you our culture, buying vast tracts of real estate, and making yourself laugh your asses off. But it's not enough, no. For now the church of the holy goalie Tim Horton is now spreading across your land. A church where parishoners do partake of the holy communion of coffee and timbits and yea do the cries of rroll up the rrimm echo across the land.

😄

Well something like that anyway.

As much as I love some of my German friends online, I am about ready to declare WW3 on Germany and have Dr. Strangelove come after them.

Bitches sending ME threatening letters, scaring my friends...telling me I'm immoral, illegal, a threat to decency...

Watch out, Deutschland, the Red Nun is coming, and Father Nelson is with her!

To be honest your never in the number one spot on any search engine for very long. Be even more interesting sign up for an Alert notice from Google Email Alert (http://www.google.com/alerts?hl=en) for the word Eunuch and another one for castration and you will get daily updates on new items entered into Googles database.

It's even worse if you try living there. Makes you want to jump out of a window, though be aware that they won't clean up your body on a Sunday or after 8pm.

We are indeed a crafty lot. Back at the beginning of WW II, Winston Churchill befriended Canada's Sir William Stephenson (aka Intrepid; well, he hadn't been knighted yet). Britain thus got MI-5. The PM was so impressed with William's cunning that he sent him off to New York to make sure the US came into the War that had begun in Europe in Sept 1939. Roosevelt liked him as well and gave him leave to found the CIA. The US came into the War (never mind that Japan bombed Pearl Harbour just to make sure the US entered the War). Sir William even came out of retirement to save USSR diplomat Ivan Guzenko and start the Cold War. Clever - and effective - we are - and maybe not as peaceful as we like to think. Having Lester Pearson be awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace was a ploy to fool everyone. Wonder if we had to pay off the Norwegians? Probably!

search engine results are based on site activity, thus the more post and bandwidth and such that a site uses the higher up the results are... there are other financial means of getting to the top of the page, but for the most part it is based on site activity....

The relevant code has been fixed. Hopefully Google's web crawler will take note of the changes soon. We'll wait 2-3 weeks, checking to see when they visit. If this doesn't resolve the issue, then we will inquire if we are being censored by them.

I just tried, and entering that word alone did not result in the archive showing on the first page still ...

However, when you are typing the word eunuch into the search field, by the time you get it all typed, "eunuch archive" is the second result on the pull-down menu that shows up as you type at google now. Not bad!

Don't forget to check the Google SafeSearch settings on the computer you are currently using. There are 3 options.

SafeSearch Filtering

Google's SafeSearch blocks web pages containing explicit sexual content from appearing in search results.

Use strict filtering (Filter both explicit text and explicit images)

Use moderate filtering (Filter explicit images only - default behavior)

Do not filter my search results

------------------

Amazing how an inquiry about Google search engine can drift off into condemnations of Canada, Canadians, Canada Dry, Capt. Kirk, Germans, and more. No wonder it is so challenging searching for and finding information in the various segments of the archive; more challenging than Google to be sure.

-----------------

Separately, the one thing that I always wondered about is that following a Google search, you can select an archived entry in the EA and the reader completely by-passes the warning "do not enter" notice on the index page of the web site. I still think everyone should be required to log in, even if they found the EA via a back door. There is no obligation in registering, they don't even need to give any personal info or e-mail. But at least to view the site everyone sees the "do not enter' notice prior to entering the site, every time because they have to log in before viewing any part of the site.

For those of us who don't know how to do that could you give us a step by step how to.

Thanks

Actually, it goes beyond safe search. We have currently been banned from all Google search results. We are currently dealing with requesting reconsideration.

A suggestion. Require anyone who wishes to visit the site to register and set up a user name and password. Forbid any entry through the "back door". When people see postings via the "back door" they don't see the warning notice that is on the first page.

By registering each person would then declare that they are of age and that viewing the site is legal in their area. They wouldn't need to provide any personal information, just set up a user name and password. Maybe that would help. Personally I think it would be a good idea anyway. It seems most inappropriate to me for some under age personr to type in some search word into Google that may exist within the E archive and accidentally arrive at a very graphic archive posting.
