Update on finances

Post by kristoff »

So that folks are informed, the current fund balance in our account is about $300. Most of that has come from several different, generous contributors in the past couple of months. All levels of contribution are welcome.

One of the things that has become of concern lately, following our recent efforts at upgrading our VB software (which will be re-attempted next weekend), is that the computer that is used to backup the data base is woefully outdated and slow. We will need to look at upgrading fairly soon. We also need to look at upgrading the backup software, although there are some fairly good systems available in share-ware. The new VB software has been paid for and will be brought online. The server won't be upgraded until sufficient funds are on hand to do so.

Contributions to the Archive can be mailed to:

PO Box closed. Please PM Kristoff to mail donations.

Donations can be by check in U.S. dollars or by money order (either made out to Wyrm Wyvern LLC), or sent as cash (in any currency).

The Good Sister has looked into Paypal, but their regulations make it nearly impossible to use their system.

While the Eunuch Archive is a registered corporation in the State of Minnesota, donations are not yet tax deductible. (The Archive's tax returns would be a nightmare if they were.)

The above information is correct except that I have set up a PayPal account using the email WyrmWyvern at live dot com. Took a bit, but it is done.

Naughty. Very naughty, Moi.

You should be spanked in public.

PS. I will donate $100 for a call from Jocelyn.

The envelope is addressed and stamped.

Apathetically, it waits for a check of one or two hundred dollars.

Is a three minute phone call worth a hundred dollars?

Kristoff knows the answer while the rest of us wait with unbridled anticipation.

Hhhmm, is this author bipolar, consider expressing apathy to unbridled anticipation? 🙄

Regarding low carb, chocolate.

I would have sent a, Trader Joe's no sugar chocolate bar but, recently discovered, Lindt 90% cocoa chocolate bar. Based on 2 an a half servings per bar,

14 grams of total carb

5 grams of fiber

3 grams of sugar means the missing numbers to total 14 is

6 grams of starch. <secret gotta work the numbers>

That means one serving is 9 grams of carb but, I find half a serving a total chocolate kill. And I am a chocoholic. If you try this it is too easy to chew chew chew and swallow with no chocolate flavor experience. Chew it and roll it around the mouth. A good chocolate hit.

Another treat is Smuckers No Sugar Chocolate Fudge Ice Cream topping. Lick a cold spoon of it. A serving is 2 tablespoons with

23 grams of total carb

1 gram of fiber

0 gram of sugar

17 gram of sugar alcohol - doesn't count as real sugar or carb anymore then fiber. Goes right through you. That leaves a missing, 5 grams,

5 grams of starch - the only digestible carb in 2 tablespoons.

Cocoa powder mixed in a little hot half and half, the cream half helps it dissolve, with equal and a dash of salt and vanilla also a chocolate fav.

Paolo, just following th teach a man to fish philosophy. :)

As the phone remains silent I shall now seek a chocolate fix.

Kristoff telephoned. He really telephoned.

I must say the voice effect leads me to believe he is a genuinely nice person who we do not get to know through the veil of moderating.

As I had planned to donate 3 or 4 times a year I trust this donation will cover me for 6 months. Unless the Board faces a financial crisis.

I promised $200 if he telephoned, $100 if no telephone call.

Well I was so impressed, I am sending $350 as

$200 for the telephone call as promised

$100 not to be forfeited for calling and

$50 for Kristoff's forbearance to make the call

C'mon EA Nation. We have had a good, FREE ride.

With Valentine's Day coming up, write the check!

I know it seems stupid to pay for something that is FREE, but it isn't FREE.

There are bills.

For the time enjoyed here how much would it cost to sit at a Starbucks or something? The entertainment value. The psychological value. My number is no doubt small, all things considered. For the time it takes to write a $50 check you might write a $100, or $200.

Several people recently have posted or PM'd about this, so I am bumping an old thread and making it sticky.

Thanks all, and thanks to the recent contributor!

I am NOT rich, hell, I am dirt poor, but some things are precious to me, like the EA fiction archive. How much money will it take to bring it back? Not that I could afford it alone, but I could contribute. Heck, I have spent $30 for some books that I found very disappointing, I find the majority of the EA fiction archive stories dull and un-interesting, but some of those stories are GREAT and I would be quite willing to pay for them.

So please do tell us, is it a matter of money? If so, how much do we need to raise?

I don't think its so much a matter of money, but how to present it and where. This is something that has actually been in the works for a couple years now, and I am sure we will talk more about it at this upcoming MOM event.

The problems are more technical then anything else. We need to be able to take the story board from what we had to what is the standard in today's world, I go to several of these sites and the difference is great on what is out there and what we had. We also need to be able to review each story before its posted so going forward there is hope but it may take some time to set it all up and get people to maintain that site.

Thanks for making it a permanent thread. Makes it easier to look up the mailing address.
