The scary modern trade of eunuchs in Islamic Africa and Middle East

I don't know if that's just a hoax, a fiction or a bait, but I once talked to a guy in DeviantArt that said he was a modern eunuch, fully nullified. His username was KhassiAdu and now is deleted from DA.

He didn't write well in english, so he was confusing. I understood that he was sold in a eunuch black market. They cut off his genitals non surgically in 2011. He was from Ghana and worked in a harem in Oman. He said there was many women in the harem, but mostly were older, except by one, whom he liked but he was forbidden to have sex. There were more eunuchs there.

He wasn't a slave in strict sense, since he had a good payment. He helped his family with this payment. I don't know what job he did in Oman, he never specified.

Again, this can be just a fiction, but it really sounded as real. It's quite scary to know that young men can be victims of eunuch makers in those countries. There's also a medical paper reporting cases of predatory castration of men in Nigeria, where severed male genitals are used as amulets in some localities.

I know this sounds a little enthusiastic by fetish perspective, but it's macabre and sad that there's no big divulgation in media. BBC could write an article over this.

There seem to be lots of recurring rumors about people being castrated, mostly involuntary and being in some sort of servitude in several Middle Eastern / African countries, Saudi Arabia being most often mentioned. However there seems to be little or no solid factual info about this, such as actual people showing up w/o testicles...

Also given the way the media sensationalizes everything, not sure we'd really want BBC talking about it...

No specific links - as I said, it is mostly rumor and that tends to be hard to trace or document... There is this thread viewtopic.php?t=183 which is about as good as I'm aware of... (note particularly that JesusA is VERY expert on the topic of eunuchs...)
