U.S. Census

Post by JesusA »

How should someone who is non-gendered, third gendered, eunuch, etc. answer the census question on gender? There are only two boxes to check. According to our government you must be EITHER male or female.

I'm of a simple mind on stuff like this... It's the engineer in me... so here is my 2-cents...

IF you look and dress like a man, you would check male.

If you look and dress like a woman, check woman.

They aren't asking if you have genitals, just what you look like.

It probably should match your drivers license (official ID).

But don't let me deter any discussion.

you could always check both! 😄 especially if you want to be a smarty pants and gum up the system...of course the Census will most likely send someone out to clear up the question...

I can understand your very generic definition of sex. But how would a asexual person dress different then your suggestion. Have the left side of the clothes be male and the right half be female. I am asexual. I am very happy anyway I dress. I am not out to get in ones face flouting my type of sexual/nonsexual/asexual life. An transsexual does wear both set of generic clothes. Think they are very happy wearing one type or clothes part of the time and different other time.

As for using your drivers license is observed. You are given 2 choices and NO MORE. That is like you having to pick what skin color you are. You have a choice of Blue and Green. Now you pick what is the closest to what your are. Get my point. You can not make a choice when there is no choice. You are stuck to the generic world that thinks the choices provided.

All the same arguments would apply to anyone that sees them self as another type of person. Unless you think eunuch is not a type of person. Fill in any other classification that you are.

Do not forget to post what color you are.

To answer Jesus question you have to pick the one that is less offensive to you. It may just come down to flipping a coin. I would very much like that blank be unfilled on the form.

I would be less offended if a third choice is given of "other". That would imply that you at least a person.

I will be placing my mark midway between the male and female boxes. If someone from the census department stops by I will open the door without pants and then let them figure it out.

Yesterday, on the news was the Latino / Hispanic problem

What and who are they?

Some suspects were interviewed.

Let us declare we are of a time now as evidenced by the Obama election and being half white,

Gender Questions

Race Questions

Any questions except a "head count" as Constitutionally intended should not be allowed.

Let those who need to know hire private polling firms.

Moi

🇺🇸, whose America are, "they" from?

Those who need to know and would use the government.

I don't know, could it be the Government-Corporations Complex? 💡

I just filled out mine. I checked male, which is anatomically correct for now.

I was concerned about the lack of an important question: citizenship. The count is used to re-apportion congressional districts according to population. Since male/female/other have the right to vote but aliens do not they should ask about citizenship too.

By just counting population representation will skew unfairly toward states with high numbers of illegal aliens who do not have a right to be represented in congress. Oh well, I suppose they would just lie about it anyway... 📖

The question is much deeper than it appears. Police department or whoever invented these checkboxes probably mean what is genetically correct. Their interest is to get more data out of you and they would happily include sexuality and other personal details like income sources and list of boy and girlfriends in the past.

Perhaps they should leave a third option with empty box for handwritten explanation of genetics, current genitalia status, gender identity and perhaps sexuality if one feels it is needed to be clarified.

Personally I don't feel any need to be more specific than physical appeareance F/M. Check what is more appropriate. No need to confuse officials with details.

This is pretty silly. If you have two X chromosomes, you check female. If you have an X and a Y then check male. And if you have XXY, then put whatever you like.

Or better yet...which public restroom do you use, male or female? Write that answer down. This isn't hard, people.

I filed it out and sent it off, myself, 2 sons, 1 daughter-n-law, 1 grandson, its a no brainer, just fill the damn thing out and send it in. I don't think I want the government knowing more about me then they already do so use the KISS formula and just do it.
