Is eunuch a valid gender identity?
For 4000+ years, eunuch has been a gender role in various civilizations. Throughout history, eunuchs have been associated with a third gender or at least not acknowledged as men. Eunuchs are still around today. SOC-8 has now officially recognized people who identify as eunuchs. We're pretty much invisible since no one can really tell just by looking at us. But under the hood, I've experienced substantial changes -- both physical and psychological. It's been a transformation. So for me, eunuch is indeed a valid gender identity.

Re: Is eunuch a valid gender identity?
I totally agree, lots of changes... Perhaps less for me than for some as I had been more or less a "functional eunuch" since I got hurt in 2010, before I really knew that castration was an option one could seek voluntarily... I knew what a eunuch was, but only from the usual opera singer / harem guard historical tropes...
To me the biggest change was getting rid of the desire to do what I could no longer manage.... (If only it was as easy to deal with all the other things I can't do any longer...

Re: Is eunuch a valid gender identity?
Eunuch is totally valid as a gender identity and should be recognized as such, whether it be as a subset of the Gender X umbrella or its own marker. In a practical sense, I feel it's best considered a subset of Gender X. Society has a hard enough time adapting to the notion of one non-binary marker option. I can only imagine the endless challenges of pursuing endless other marker options for every possible identity. That being said, I think it would be cool to have an 'E' marker option. Unfortunately, we have a long way to go just to gain acceptance just for that one third umbrella option(X), especially given the current political climate in the US.

Re: Is eunuch a valid gender identity?
Eunuch is a valid gender in my mind, yes it's hard to tell us apart from our male counterparts unless you strip us down.
Depending on the state the person is from in Australia determines what gender markers are available to be shown on licenses but passport, which are managed by the federal government, has an X marker for those that don't use the m or f marker.
For me my license shows X as I'm in Victoria which allows for that sort of marker.
Btw it's fun watching the police try and work out why there is an X on my license as I look completely male.

Just your friendly neighbourhood guy.
