2011

Midwest MoM

Thursday, August 18 thru Sunday, August 21

Near Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN

๐ŸŒˆ ๐ŸŒˆ ๐ŸŒˆ ๐ŸŒˆ ๐ŸŒˆ

Pre-event (BBQ at the Convent) on the evening of Thursday, August 18 for early arrivals

First "official" event on the afternoon of Friday, August 19

Saturday, August 20 - All-day gathering

Sunday, August 21 - Riverwind's internationally famous pancake breakfast and camaraderie until......

Send an <PRIVATE MESSAGE> to Riverwind to get on the mailing list for further information. Click on his name at the left and select "Send private message to Riverwind" from the drop down menu.

The MoM is an annual gathering of members of the Eunuch Archive community. All registered members are invited to attend. This is your chance to meet face-to-face with those folk whose posts you have been reading and with whom you have exchanged private messages.

As we get closer to the event, River will provide more details, including maps to the various locations and a list of those who are planning to attend. He will need an email address for you that will accept attachments for the maps and schedule. A number of us will be staying in the same motel (about midway between Kristoff's convent and the Mothership, the neighborhood where River, Gem, & Talula reside.)

(I edited River's post to put this right at the top of the thread.)

I would think that the earliest the date can be established the greater number of members could attend. Scheduling time off, saving money and providing feedback as to interests for the MoMs. I sincerely hope to make it to the next one. I missed everyone.

Thanks all, I just received my MoM card. I liked the art work. At the risk of tarnishing my reputation I think I recognized a good number.

By my calender, the dates should be August 5,6 & 7, 2011... But that really depends on Kristoff, Jesus, Riverwind and Talula.. With their blessing, it could easily be set at that date soon.. But the ball is in your court right now. The date is not one persons decision.. Many contribute in that date.. So talk it up.

I would like to see a poll on this question, if I knew how to set one up I would.

Last week in July?

Aug, week 1

week 2

week 3

week 4

NOT labor day weekend,

Sept. week 1.

Other ?

I think it is important that we do move the date from the first week in Aug. as their are some people that have other things happening and can never attend at that time, this would give everybody at least a chance.

Also we need to plan some other events besides just eat and chat. We need some ideas from you younger members, (younger members meaning if your in your 20s and 30's). We need to change up the Sat, Sun menu, I for one don't mind making pancakes but we are in a rut, we need a new diet plan for that weekend.

Mostly we need a committee to help plan this event. So feel free to contact me, or send me your ideas, keeping in mind that I only need 4 or 5 people for that committee all ideas will be considered and any member of the Archive is welcome to come.

The main thing is to make it work for the locals, which is only logical.

Also, as Jesus has been so incremental in getting the professional community to acknowledge "our existence" as valid, we must have a date that he can attend.

I think everyone can see the sense in this. I will try and post a poll! Right now it's arguing with me.

Please vote only if you plan to attend!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘‹

That poll is in trouble now, the EVIL Overlord is on it.

Yes, I totally agree, the date picked must be a date that Jesus can attend. He is the one person that must be here.

While I voted for the last week of July, the third and fourth weeks of August or the first week of September would also work for me. The first two weeks of August will be taken up by the International Academy for Sex Research, where I plan to present a paper on Male-to-Eunuch as a valid gender dysphoria that requires adequate medical treatment - whether chemical or surgical.

I could do with the last week of july even though it comes close to my wedding anniversary (20 July). I could do it almost any time, but I like the idea of early September since the local kids will be back in school (meaning family vacations are over). Also September might be a little bit cooler than early August. --FLO--

I like the idea of the first weekend in September, or the first weekend after labor day. Like Tugon said, it might be a little cooler and more important we could then get a first hand report on the conference Jesus is going to.

The second week or later of any month would be better for myself, but I'll try to manage with whatever works for everyone else. I won't be a fly in the ointment.๐Ÿ˜„

Labor Day is Monday Sept 5th next year, so I would suggest Sept 7th as a start time through the 11th. that would give people a travel day on Wed the 7th and events starting on Thursday the 8th, finishing Sunday afternoon/evening the 11th.

If this is Not OK chime in soon, otherwise I think we have a date.

Also so far I have two younger members in both age and time with the archive, I am looking for a couple more to help set up the planning of the events. If your interested send me a message via this site.

Thanks,

River

Sorry River, but this date will not work out for me. I'd still prefer the first weekend of August, so if there is any change let me know, otherwise I guess I won't be seeing all of you next year. :(

Just how cold is it up in them there woods of Minnesota/Wisconsin in September, or even August?? Down SOuth here, we have been told about the tales of Paul Bunyan, and the tales of your extreme weathers. Inquiring minds need to know before they can vote for September... or should I just bring a parka??

It can range from 50 degrees F to 100 degrees F. It is a transition month. August can be quite hot.

As a plus sized, always warm no T eunuch I vote for 50's to 70's. This is my favorite type of weather we are having in Ohio. Days in the 70's to low 80's and nights down around the 50's. I have not needed the furnace or the air conditioner. Good sleeping weather.

I agree, the weather is nice in September it can get cold later in the month but the first couple weeks are usually good.

The date is not set in stone yet but will be shortly.
