Tome you are in my thoughts and prayers as well. Look forward to seeing you next year at the MoM and you can show off your scar. I mean the one from the bypass surgery. As a caregiver wish I could be there to help you through your recovery. When you are feeling up to it please update us on how you are doing. I think the Denny's breakfast group or MacWolf will update us as well.

Tom seemed in pretty good spirits yesterday when we had breakfast together. He should just be getting prepared for surgery now. His son is with him and OBB and/or Bobbie are going to visit him tomorrow and should be able to give a first hand update. I'd expect to have a report from him in another day or two.

How can you tell when a patient is ready to go home from the hospital? When he's playing on his computer. Tom's line yesterday.

Yes our very best wishes go out to Tom. He has a lot of anxiety to say the least. I would if I was getting a double bypass with a valve replacement. As I post this he should be in surgery. We will be getting a call from his son later in the day giving us an update on how the surgery went. OneBallBoi and I will visit him on Thursday if he can receive visitors. [sad part is that he in in a hospital 80 miles away)

We will pass on the well wishes to him when we see him.

My thoughts are with Tome. He's one of the people I always look forward to seeing at the Minneapolis MoM.

From what I found out when my Mother had a heart valve replaced, he won't have taste buds for a while. Heart surgery shuts down the taste buds.

And he won't hear his heartbeat like we do until the pericardium (the sack that surrounds the heart) reforms and heals.

All the news sounds good. I hope and pray it stays that way.

He said in a note to me that he could order food off the menu and got a burger. He said it was well done when it arrived. He's more into the less done approach. I took his complaint as a good sign that he's ready to come back home. You guys should have better driving conditions today as well. Hope he's home safe and sound by this afternoon.
