Re: Soon to be a eunuch
Hi is this being done in hospital or with a cutter I tried to get my scrotum removed at the same time but was told it has to be at least 6 months after incase you change your mind and want implants as you need time to really think about what you want. I know I will still want it gone for the same reason as you but I understand where they are comming from and after all the really important bit was the castration and becomming a eunuch I love it. Good luck

Re: Soon to be a eunuch
Sounds like you're doing this in a thoughtful way, with a urologist.
The only comment I would make is that "
I'd advise you to speak to your endocrinologist (or start working with one if you aren't already doing so) about increasing the frequency. I take weekly injections (self-administered with Doctor's prescription). I'd also advise you to learn how to give yourself the injection (eliminates dependency on the doctor or nurse) or to look into alternative therapies such as a Gel.
If you choose to do HRT, there is no reason that you can't have a normal libido and a testosterone count in the normal range for your age; if your doctor isn't sympathetic to that desire, then get another doctor.
Good luck.
The only comment I would make is that "
" will be insufficient once you have lost the remaining testicle (and may already be insufficient).PhillipRobinson (imported) wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2012 8:40 am testosterone injections every three months

The injections referred to here are indeed established for 3 month intervals. Very slow timed release.

I can't see why the urologist would object to tidying up by removing your scrotum if that is what you want. You may have to shop around to find another surgeon who is a bit more flexible in his thinking.

Re: Soon to be a eunuch
To the best of my discernment, the scrotal contract-relax "testicle control mechanism" is based on scrotal temperature, since my scrotum is incessantly busy regulating the temperature of the testicles that are not there.
While my scrotum testicle temperature control dance is as it was when it had something useful to do, it bothers me not at all.
And yet, I have not the slightest difficulty understanding how someone else might be unacceptably bothered by what is, for me, an inconsequential triviality.
Actually, that dance helps me. It reminds me of the personal wisdom of my choice to part with apparently testosterone induced "brain fog."
Until last April, when my body apparently decided it was time to activate a foreign body reaction to the prostheses, they were a useful reminder for me that I had found the courage and will to live a life truthful to my inner identity.
Alas, my inner identity will never include welcoming a very uncomfortable foreign body reaction.
When local area physicians took the stance, wait for several months, you may change your mind, not being out of my mind, I went to another state, to the "major research university" hospital where the prostheses were "installed," and got them removed on the very next available surgical date.
(Editing comment): I am willing to allow that dying from cancer, as did my dad and brother, would also have cured me of testosterone-driven "brain fog." Alas, I welcome being alive for as long as being alive is practicable.
The fact that some physician does not know me is not an indicator that I do not know me.

I learn something new everyday. I wasn't familiar with that therapy; the longest I'd heard was testosterone IM, maybe 1.5ml, good for three weeks or so. Do you have a link? What's the med? How much is given? Thanks.

There is a new product made by Bayer in germany, it's not yet sold in U.S.A. or Canada, the name is Nebido (testosterone undecanoate). One shot last 3 months. I've been using it for 3 years now, it's better than Androgel. In Costa Rica, it's sold without prescription and it costs only $95.

Thanks for the information. Here's a link for those who are interested in learning more: http://www.nebido.com/en/hcp/index.php
I guess I hadn't heard of it because it's not yet available for prescription in the US or Canada. I looked at the web page and googled a few pages on T undecanoate. As far as I can tell, the altered compound allows for longer and more even release.
The dosage is 1,000 mg in 4ml of an oil base, similar to how other testosterone therapies are delivered. Two questions:
I wonder if that is enough, over a 12 week period, to provide a sustained level of Testosterone in the normal/upper normal range for people whose bodies produce no natural testosterone outside of their adrenal glands. That is obviously a matter of individual physiology and of how individuals "feel," which can't be quantified. So, I'll take Bayer's word that it clinical trials show that it is adequate, but also keep an open mind since Bayer is trying to sell the drug.
Also, anyone who has ever injected oil-based solutions into their muscles knows that 4ml is a big load to take. Bayer goes out of the way on the Nebido web page to say that this is not a problem "pain wise," but a quick look around the internet found that some folks have experienced injection site discomfort as an issue. In addition, as someone who has self-injected 1ml (200mg) per week for many years into my upper quadriceps, I think a major trade-off would be having to rely on a health care provider for the injection, since the mass would have to go into our glutes and most of us are not contortionist enough to self-inject into our butts.
All in all, this does look promising for people who have ready access to a healthcare provider and whose physiological and psychological makeup make the dosage sufficient. Personally, I'll stick with what I'm doing, but I can see that for many this could be a real benefit.
Based on what I read on the internet, US FDA approval is just a matter of time and compliance with new FDA procedures.

Re: Soon to be a eunuch
Before I started to use Nebido I was using anti depressant and all anti depressant are also anti androgenic. On Nebido after 2 1/2 months I started to be more tired and lack energy I guess it was due to anti depressant. I've quitted anti depressant and got an other injection of Nebido, in 3 months I'll get my T level tested to see if it's in a normal range. Even though it's not avalable here in Canada, my doctor knows that I'm using it. I do my own injection. Yes, the injection site is a bit sore for 1-2 days so I inject myself in the hip or in the thigh so that doesn't bother me so much.

Re: Soon to be a eunuch
For those that are taking Nebido, what is the dosage? I know I'm taking 0.5mL of testosterone cypionate weekly via injection. I saw someone mention that the concentration of Nebido was 1000mg in 4mL of an oil base, but they didn't specify how much you would take per injection to last the 3 months. So I'm a bit confused. It's something I would seriously look at if it becomes available in the US if it meant one jab every three months instead of once per week.

Re: Soon to be a eunuch
Hi Losethem, I'm on Nebido, 1 shot every 12 weeks, 250 mgs in a 4ml oil base. This keeps me happily active but with levels at the lower end of 'normal'.
