This is interesting. The Chinese government isn't making the claim, but some Chinese social media content creators declared an island currently owned by the Philippines should be the property of China. The island, which Filipinos call Palawan Island, has been designated by the Chinese group as "Zheng He Island," named after eunuch explorer Zheng He, who lived around 200 AD.
Roughly one-million Filipinos currently live on the island, so the assertion is ridiculous, but Philippines government officials took he situation seriously enough to call the claims “delusional” and part of a “propaganda” push. I'm sure Admiral Zheng He would be glad to know that he hasn't been forgotten.
