I was thrilled when my urologist agreed to remove them. He asked about prosthetic testicles but I declined. I wanted them gone and the thought of phony balls seemed silly to me. I'd know they're phony and at age 72 who am I going to impress? No TRT either and other than the occasional hot flashes I couldn't be happier. Becoming asexual brought peace of mind. I learned that at my age what little libido I still had was a distracting waste of time.

OK; understood.
Also, though, for the record, for me personally, the phoniness of prosthetic testicles is actually what makes them valuable to me. After all, I certainly detest testicles which produce things such as sperm!

My apologies if it sounded like I was criticizing those who chose to have prosthetic implants. That wasn't my intention.

Saline filled is all very well, but the outer capsule is still made of silicone and still has a finite lifespan, so no thanks no way for me.
Silicone - solid silicone rubber - isn't the issue. Silicone gel leaking out of implants is a big problem, but people use silicone injections cosmetically in the scrotum, so it's reasonably well tested in that part of the body. Silicon rubber of medical grade isn't really an issue, however.
I think fake testicles not need if you going to be castrated. Because castration is testicles removal. Why remove testicles and take fake testicles? Castration is persorming for empty scrotum!

It depends on the reasons for castration. Can be "do not want testosterone" or "do not want my own testosterone, want to be in control" - in this case - prosthetic testicles make sense.

Everyone has their own motivation and opinion and each one is valid, who are we who don't want false testicles to criticise those who do.
No i never did want them. To me that defeats the purpose of having them removed. I never liked having my balls and what they do, a empty sack is best (maybe no sack later)

Yes; correct! Plus (such as in my own case), it can also be "want to be sterilized in a way which is incapable of ever failing."
You know they are in the way when you have them but when they are gone you really realize how bothersome they were! Adds time and comfort to every day not feeling or adjusting them! LOL
