Re: News on IEunuch (Now Tester)
Is the underlying cause known? Alcoholism, oral hormone use, or something else? Is this is condition she was already battling?
I have a lot of alcoholism in my family and have watched more than one die of liver failure. It is really, really, sucky to have your liver fail. I sincerely hope this isn't that serious.
Thank you so much for passing along info. My thoughts and hopes are with her!

The unsympathetic Canadian doctors in the ER only gave 4 pain pills to take home. I talked to Tester last night. Her pain level was a 9.5

Re: News on IEunuch (Now Tester)
Oh my goodness, liver troubles are never minor things. What has caused this "enlarged liver?" As for the unsympathetic doctors giving insufficient pain medication, MAYBE they are trying to ease the work load on the liver; many pain medications and drugs do NOT actually cause pain relief, they cause the liver to release dopamine which causes pain relief, maybe the pain medication the doctors had available to them would have increased the work load on an already malfunctioning liver. I offer my best wishes and sincere concern for the suffering patient!
P.S. Every time I hear of something like this, I always point out that I am an organ donor, my son is an organ donor, and I strongly encourage everyone I know to be an organ donor. At this very instant, men and women are dying because they need a transplantable liver, heart, kidney, etc. If I were to die in an accident today, it would be some consolation to me to know that maybe some of my organs went on to others who could use them.

Why a kidney specialist when the problems seems to be a malfunctioning liver?

It sounds like she's dealing with hepatorenal syndrome. Of course, I'd have to know more specifics of her case to give an informed opinion of a nurse (not a doctor).
Here is a description of that condition:

Re: News on IEunuch (Now Tester)
She saw the specialist who said he had to do tests. The doctor said it was either (1) Fatty Liver Disease (2) or Liver Cancer.
She was NOT given any more pain pills.

Re: News on IEunuch (Now Tester)
If they cannot do a full liver transplant, have you looked into a live donor transplant? A compatible and willing donor would give part of their liver to her.

Re: News on IEunuch (Now Tester)
All of her tests came back negative so no liver cancer
Bad thing is she is still in pain and doctors don't know the cause.
