Hi everyone,

This is a topic I like.

Indeed, this communitt is unique. It is not unique due the content, but especially due to the athmosphere, politeness, helpfulness.

This is very rarely seen.

As a member since 2002 (which number ?? :-) ) this site always followed me during my growing up.

It helped me, or better you all helped me.

I say a big thank you +++

Take care, Vesal.

This thread awakens some nostalgic feelings in me. I had a look in my comprehensive email archive and found a welcome message from Eunuch Archive Message Boards from Dec. 2005 (with a different login). And the archive search turned up an old post from that account in 2008 about tattoos. I re-joined in 2013 and finally 2016, when things finally got serious for me. Unbelievable where all that time went.

But I actually posted a link to eunuch.org in alt.eunuch.questions as early as Oct. 1999, so at least this domain must have existed back then. Maybe not the message boards. My email archive is very fragmentary before 2000 due to a stolen laptop.

I've have been here since early 2000 posting but with a different moniker...often cute, sometimes clever....occasionally just plain annoying.

I think the EA rose from alt.eunuchs.questions, but isn't the same thing. I think what happened is you had a user decide the then, old, text only architecture of alt.eunuchs.questions wasn't as useful as the GUI we have here, which was the modern thing when the EA came online. I lament the seeming loss of these types of forums in favor of chat boards (strangely, everything old is new again on that one), where you can't go back and look through topics or history. If it hasn't happened on those in the last week, odds are you won't see it. This is going to make the ongoing research into our community suffer, and delay the official recognition of us in the medical community.

I haven't even thought about the old Usenet system in years! Last I heard, you had to have a client like Agent to access it, and then a subscription to some service like Giganews to read it.

Didn't Google buy the Usenet some years ago?

I still use Usenet for downloading various things. I think Google archived the whole thing, but Usenet isn't centralized there is nothing to buy.

Doesn't seem like it has been over 18 years since I joined, April 22, 2002.

I have been reading posts on the archive for a long time. For years, I avoided creating an account because I didn't want something that connected me to my account. It was great that I could read without being a member. I just couldn't post. I avoid some Facebook groups for the same reason, I want to remain anonymous. Sometimes, I wonder what the last dozen years would have been like if I had the courage and finances to go see Dr. Felix Spector when he was doing castrations.

Ah the good old days back in 2001 when I joined.

Things have changed but the Eunuch Archive continues thanks to a lot of hard work from the moderators who do a fantastic job, not to mention long hours when the board crashed a few times.

The history is a long one with those that have come and gone, some even return after a break. Many story writers have written stories and some have gone and given up writing stories for a variety of reasons but never the less they all put there efforts in to writing for the group.

Love the group and appreciate the hard work of our tireless moderator.

I've been here many times, for a long time ... And here I am ... Lady, reminds me of the Lady, the "Old Lady" in Friedrich Dürrenmatt's drama ... She also had one or rather two interests in the drama. Servant of the two geldings.

Nice to have you, Madam, here on the site, with friendship.

JesusA wrote: Thu May 14, 2020 10:27 am By the end of 2001, there were over 1500 members of the Eunuch Archive. Only 15 of them are still active -- those original five, plus A-1, Bella, Colin, Dave, EunuchSF, Gerslave, me, kkks, Littledick, and Losethem. The most recent new member, as I write this, is Onlooker, number 120,801.

I'm sure that several of those ~1500 no longer being active have re-joined with different usernames during the years, due to expired or forgotten accounts.

Some of the stories are no longer in the fiction archive. Did they get lost in the migration? I have been here on and off throughout the years. The old chat room used to have count blah programed to say things like when someone would type "beer" or other phrases he would respond. But what happened to the lost stories.

A lot of them were damaged when the Archive was moved, and it was compromised once as well. Many were damaged beyond repair and appeared as "data salad" when opened.

I have found a handful via the waybackmachine that are not yet included in the archive.

Is there a mechanism to report them for salvage or do they have to be resubmitted?

Is that even desired?

After a 10 year leave I have come back to say hello. Yes I remember the bargaining of the archive, chat room etc. I remember bboy excepting any story in any format, then we had to change. What a night mare that was, the chat room has gone through many leaders over the years, and coming back after retiring in Hawaii, it is fun to talk to old friends, still here.
