MacTheWolf and Covid-19

Post by JesusA »

This message arrived last night from a friend of MacTheWolf who has been watching out for him since he was hospitalized:

Mac was moved to a Covid Hospice facility today. The last things his doctor told me prior to his movement concerning his condition where as follows. 1. Mac has no "mentation" When you wake him up, all he does is stare at you without comprehension. 2. His kidney function is now at nearly 10% and falling. 3. He hasn't been able to swallow anything. Since the ventilator came out. So, they have been feeding him through an I.V. 4. Mac is in End Stage Renal failure. 5. These and other preexisting conditions. Such as Diabetes and the neurological damage it caused coupled with the initial stages of senility. The virus also attacked not only his lungs. But his internal organs, damaging them all as well.

His Doctor told me that there isn't anything further that can be done for Mac. Also, that she has officially pronounced his condition as terminal yesterday morning. She estimated that within (as of this writing) 6 to 10 days at the outside for Mac's survival. So, I have since signed papers on Mac's behalf, to the following effect. 1. That there should be no further life prolonging treatments or procedures. 2. Per the Doctors advice I also opted for a DNR order it stands for "Do Not Resuscitate". I can only hope that I've done the right thing by my dear friend and all of you as well.

I received a text message from another of his many friends last night that was similar in tone. To say this saddens me is an understatement.

Mac is one of the longest term members of the Eunuch Archive and has been here longer than most others, joining the Eunuch Archive back in May 2003. For those of you wanting the math, that's 17 years ago, millennia in Internet terms. There are few of us still active today that have been here longer, and he's one of our archive elders.

This is absolutely gut punching me, and I thought I was ready to say something, but I'm getting emotional writing this. I'd like to say more, but I think I need to go in the next room and cry for a bit. Seriously.

I don't care what your politics are... and neither does this virus. Just put on the damn mask. We're very likely loosing a good friend because of some people's selfishness on that subject.

I will say a prayer for Mac and hope that he turns a corner and that everything turns out OK (ever the optimist).

I do have to second LT's words, politics aside, wear a mask and wash your hands....please.

That's very sad. He's been on here forever (I've been off and on for at least that long) :(

It's heartbreaking indeed. I know he was more of a chat debutante, but I always enjoyed the off-the-wall PM's from him. I will miss that.

You did for Mac what I did for my father, Jesus. Thank you for taking care of the details in life. It is sad.

I'm sure this was very hard for you but you did the best thing for Mac because you care for him and it appears the end result is set. I know he dealt with diabetes for many years. It's terrible news and we are here to support you and Mac during these days. I have talked to Mac in chat since probably around 2006. He was always encouraging to me and I'm sure that was the man that he is. Take comfort in knowing that your concern and love for Mac is guiding your actions and that's all you can do but your best. It's not the result that we want but it appears the time is near. Stay encouraged and keep us informed.

Posted an hour ago by Mac's local friend from his church in San Bernardino:

FINAL UPDATE !!! It is with great sadness and heartfelt pain. That I must announce that our dear friend Mac has passed away from this world. Last night his nurse found that he had expired peacefully in his sleep. The old wolf is now at eternal rest and peace now. He is survived by no one and mourned only by those of his friends here and at church who loved him. I will attempt to eulogize Mac in the very near future as I want to make Mac's timeline into a memorial page. Until then, Good bye big brother.

I visited Mac several times over the years. I first met him under very different circumstances over 30 years ago when we both attended a state-wide convention. It was close to 20 years later that I discovered we were both members of the Eunuch Archive. I will miss him and his missives.

I am deeply saddened and he will be in my prayers. I hate losing friends and acquaintances to any disease, especially this one.

May the Saints and martyrs rise to greet..."

I have been chatting with him for many years. Always a gentleman (unless talking about his ex). Will miss him -- he was one reason I loved this group.

I... I do not know what to say, other than "rest in peace".

Пусть земля тебе будет пухом.

I knew him both here on the forum and in the chatroom. We talked, and he was one of the chatroom operators and... I am at loss of words. Very sad news in troubling times.

I'll miss him.

PS. Thank you, Jesus for information and update. I heard that in chat yesterday, but didn't know about the final update.

I'd add one more:

I've known him and talked to him for a lotta years. Met him a couple times in person, including in what I suppose was a proto-MOM, with SurfToad, Sag111, KenSD, and Plix. (I think there may have been another one or two there for that lunch in San Bernardino as well.) Lots of memories. Damn is he going to be missed something fierce.

So sad for Mac to go... You know all of you are family to me even though I have just only met one of you in person the other day. And I will miss Mac.

It has been some time since I logged-in here, and I had a thought to do so. The news of the passing of the Wolf is not what I expected to read upon logging-in. May his soul rest in peace.

The Wolf and I communicated for some time before and after my castration, and until last year. We even communicated about him being diabetic, as I was diagnosed to be pre-diabetic. When he had a need, I sent him a gift now and then when I could through Paypal, and one Thanksgiving had Target ship to him a cooking item that had gone out. We never met, but he is truly like a brother to

me. Rest in Peace brother.

This is such sad news. While I've not met Mac face to face as with the vast majority both here and the chat room both have become like my family. Few organizations have accepted me for me and made me feel part of a family. But in here I have been made to feel like a close family member. Let none of us ever forget Mac and keep him close to us forever.

Bobbie and I went to his mother's house and spent an afternoon with him a number of years ago. Not sure what to say, other than he needed help even back then. He is the only person that I know to have had the virus. But then I guess I live in a small world.
