Another Nasty Email Worth Sharing
Well this should make for some interesting discussion. I got this email this morning from someone who got into our database somehow, and is now shocked by us.
Were I the vindictive sort, I'd publish the IP and address, but I won't.
I had no idea we were so shocking. Read on...
You have got to be kidding?? You expect decent transgendered people to
sign up to a place with "eunuch" in the title? That's like asking First
Nation two-spirits to sign up for a "berdache" forum! Pretty sickening.
Don't you realise that it is because of people like you that we are
forced into psychiatric servitude and mind meddling, that our lives are
considered forfeit by the far right and our core identities are abused
on a daily basis by everyone from clinicians to politicians, the media
to the clergy? We are not a sexual minority, and I for one don't like
being tarred with the same brush that you seem to be advertising.
It isn't body modification, it is an insult to trans-people everywhere,
on a par with female genital circumcision. A eunuch is not a
trans-woamn, and certainly not a trans-man, I am horrified that you
could even consider trrying to equate our lives (and our bodies) with an
ancient and ritually spiritual practice, not done for it's sexual
gratification. Again, we find the post-modern world denigrating the past
in it's search for sexual pleasure. As if it isn't bad enough that
academia has theoretically tarred and feathered the eunuchs of past
generations, you are doing exactly the same now. Pitiful, really
pitiful.

I don't regularly cruise the TG section of the Archive, maybe I should do it more often. I doubt people are any different there than I already see in other sections. Sherry, Christina, and many others do not seem to be excessively bothered by daily activities on the board, I'm sure they would let us know if they were.
I don't really feel there is abuse of the TG community here, rather acceptance and a willingness to help, if only with one short stage of the process. I have a very close friend who is post-op TG that has recommended Sherry's pages to me as she knows my wife and I have been discussing castration for a few years now. Not because she wants me to become TG, but for information on just the one step.
Yes, Eunuch is in the title of this Archive. Transgender is in the title of other places on the 'net that I will go to seek further information on castration. I'm not transgender, but one step of that process is the step I seek. Should I express my dismay to them at having to use their forums when it is not exactly what I want?
IMHO, it looks as if someone didn't get past reading the first couple pages, if that, before deciding to
To everyone who is TG here, I openly welcome you, and to those who are here for whatever other reason, you are welcome as well.
My thanks to Paolo, BBoy, and all for a wonderful place to be.

I am a TG and I love this site. "An insult to trans-people everywhere"?? Whatever. The smallest minds are often the most opinionated ones.

Thank's Rich,
No, I'm not bothered by some of the posts here. As a lot of people here will tell you, I came to this site seeking information about castration as part of my gender reassignment. Yes, I decided to stick around because of the truely freindly people here, and the fact that there were (at least at the time) a couple of other TS/TG folk too. There seems to be an increase in the area of transsexualism with some new faces arouind today.
One thing that I would like to put to rest is the fact that not all transsexuals can afford the full surgery (or want it), so for them, castration is a reasonable alternative and is much more affordable. Plus (and I'm only speaking from my POV) it gives a sense of accomplishment to getting rid of at least part of something unwanted.

What's sad is the missed support and friendship that this person COULD have found here. Oh well...

...ya never know what is going to come dragging into this place, do ya?
DeCaf won't cut it with this one. This one needs some serious sedation.
Did you ever notice how some people take themselves WAY too seriously?
This is a case in point...it's not us, it's him...
Thanks for sharing, Paolo.

Ya just don't know who drops in this place, this one is not a TG and will most likely never be one. He will piss off everyone that is here to help on all sites ours and TG. Hell if this person pulled there head out and came in and asked a few questions, we could lead him to a TG chat room. Oh well, no loss
Paolo, keep these coming, maybe start a new group call fan mail

Paolo at first i wasent going to reply to this post but i feel this is a good lesson for all of us .First of all as you pointed out this person is missing out on the support and friendship that is so wonderful here. But it should remind us all not to judge people by your standerds and that is what this person has done for this person has prejudged all of us and never took the time to know us how sad.Ihave to rember what God has told us and that we are to love one another as he loves us and not to gudge one another or you will be judged your self. And as you can see this person is beaing judged quite severly.i love you all your friend Sag111

Re: Another Nasty Email Worth Sharing
I find most arguments are based on simple misunderstandings, or simple differences in terminology.
In this case, the person seemed to think that you were using the word "eunuch" for transgendered people. Obviously we're not, and obviously she did not understand that there are people with a eunuch orientation that are not transgendered.
Secondly, the person assumed that "eunuch" was a derogatory term -- but we're working hard here to reclaim that word as a real description of a sexual orientation/gender.
It is quite amusing how people have hot buttons and go off without even understanding what is really going on. It just makes me laugh really.

Re: Another Nasty Email Worth Sharing
When I first started my process back in 1999 and decided to make castration my first step, I received little help from TS in getting information on castration. So I turned to the eunuch community for advice and information, and they instantly assisted me.
I've seen many kind TSs have posted for a little while in places such as the alt.eunuchs.questions newsgroup on Usenet, and then leave the eunuch groups as they continued their journey. But I could not forget the kindness I received from the people of the eunuch community, and I just had to stay in touch. Even in this day, after having accomplished my legal and social transition to be all I was meant to be, I regret that I have not been able to maintain regular contact lately.
In contrast, I see fighting and superiority games among some of the trans-women. Just so I don't tar all with the same brush, I have contacted many kind and loving trans-women during the past several years, and just got back from a group meeting with such kind women. But as an example of what goes on in some trans-groups, I don't dare post in the Usenet group alt.support.srs, because I believe my plan to get penectomy and labiaplasty without the vaginoplasty would likely get me attacked by some there.
I can't believe that the author of the E-Mail or any trans-woman would accuse the eunuch community of equating with them. I, a trans-woman myself, have tarried in the eunuch community for years and find this accusation to be false and must take the time to refute it. I do realize that most in the eunuch community do not consider themselves transgendered, and I have even seen a number of persons in the eunuch community resist being labeled trans-anything.
I certainly do not feel insulted by this community, or any of the posts here in any way.
Sherry Joanne,
A decent trans-woman, and happy to be participating in the eunuch community.

For what it's worth, I might point out that there does seem to be some confusion about whether the hijras of South Asia (who are definitely considered eunuchs, and probably comprise upwards of 95% of all the eunuchs in the world) are to be considered transgendered as well as emasculated. Hijras who have been ceremonially castrated, have all the external male genitalia removed, they wear women's clothing, and they refer to each other by feminine pronouns. Many are also professional prostitutes, even though the surgery does not produce a constructed vagina, or even a pinch visible from the front like a woman has. I think that the legal system in India treats them as males. Jesus could probably fill you in on the subtleties of the situation
