📢 NEW SURVEY – Usefulness of the WPATH Standards of Care

A research study from the University of Hawai‘i is now open for participation.

🧪 The study explores how the WPATH Standards of Care v8 – Eunuch Chapter has supported individuals in accessing gender-affirming medical or surgical care (e.g., orchiectomy, penectomy, nullification).

📝 Participants are invited to complete a completely anonymous 30-minute survey to share their experience. No personal information is collected.

📚 The results will contribute to a medical journal article and help improve access and care for the Eunuch community.

Welcome to the forum, hope we are able to help you achieve your goals.

From what I've heard, the Netherlands is supposed to be better than many places about being able to obtain gender surgeries, so you may be lucky in that regard.

The advice I always start people off with is that you need to start making contacts with your local Trans-Gender center or clinic. Often the better ones are associated w/ a hospital as one of their specialty departments. They are the folks that deal with any sort of genital modification procedures...

The other BIG piece of advice is that the centers almost always work based on the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) Standards of Care version 8, which we usually refer to here as the "SOCv8" It is available as a free download in many languages (I'm pretty sure including Dutch) from the WPATH website https://wpath.org , with translations at: https://wpath.org/publications/soc8/translation/

There is a chapter in it on handling those wanting to be eunuchs, and I STRONGLY encourage you to read and thoroughly understand it and the mental health chapter, at a minimum, and ideally the entire thing. The SOCv8 process is fairly lengthy and a great deal depends on convincing them that you really understand the procedures you are looking for, including all the medical risks and downsides, and that you are mentally competent to make these decisions... You are going to have to convince the TG docs, that you are sincere in your desires, and are able to give a VERY informed consent... In many ways I compare it to a job interview as you have to convince them to fix you. Just as in a job interview, it is good to know what they are going to be asking you, and have a good idea of how you should answer the questions in ways that will convince them. You don't want to lie, but how you answer can make a big difference... Knowing the SOC and being able to quote from it, gives you a good idea about what they will want to hear in your answers. It also shows that you have been 'doing your homework' to get the good understanding they want you to have...
