Hello to all of you on the eunuch.co website
I was wondering if any of you are willing to enlighten me and others who stumble upon this post on your motivations for becoming a eunuch. I have spoken to several people regarding this topic, and I mostly hear the same two answers, which are either to submit or give up a part of oneself to a significant other to prove commitment or ownership, or the other reason, which is simply due to an elevated sex drive or sexual desires that gets in the way of everyday life, but those personal anecdotes aside, I would love to hear yours on this post
Also, I would like to address some concerns
I attempted to get these same, consensual, legal, and commonly asked questions from the eunuch community before, via the private message function on the eunuch.co website, it is obvious I made some of you uneasy or uncomfortable in my attempts to gain this information due to the fact that I got banned. Additionally, I was accused of being a reporter, an undercover researcher, or just someone who had bad intentions and was on an undertaking to shine a bad light on the eunuch community, I address this to assure you that I am not any of the things listed above, but only someone interested in one of the more niche, less known communities and sexualities in the broader sexual sciences.
I have spoken to eunuchs globally and Dr Marc Arnkoff personally. I would not do this if my only wish were to cast a bad light on the modern eunuch community.

Re: Motivations for becoming a eunuch
Thank you for posting in the regular forum. I think something we would like to know is what use you plan to make of any of the things you learn here.
We want this to be a safe and welcoming space for all, and to me this means knowing that what gets posted here stays here other than possibly anonymized research reporting. (and even that is normally done via surveys and other clearly identified data collection methods)
We are here for the community, help, advice, support and other benefit to ourselves, or the pleasure of helping others that need it. We aren't here to put on a show for the entertainment of others, so if you are simply collecting for your own personal enjoyment, it doesn't inspire a lot of desire to share our stories beyond how it suits us for our benefit.
I'd also suggest simply reading through a lot of the threads here, where many people have talked about their reasons. I've never tried to do a tally, but my rough guess from the years I've been involved in the eunuch community, is that the two reasons you mention are among the LESS common ones. Looking at what has already been posted shows an effort to 'do your own homework'

Check out the thread below. It should answer your question about the fascinating world of eunuchs...

Re: Motivations for becoming a eunuch
As I said, I assure you that I personally will not cast a bad light on the modern eunuch community. All the information I plan to gather, and have gathered on the eunuch.co website will not be published, but instead will only be used for my own personal understanding of the eunuch community and of the broader sexual and social sciences. I also believe I could contribute to "the community, help, advice, and support" that you noted with my background in biology, sociology, and public health. I do have to say that I am having a hard time understanding your logic, I cannot private message people to gather information, I did last time and you banned me, you said that I may get unbanned if I were to stick to public post, I got unbanned and now I am using public post to gather information, and now you said "We aren't here to put on a show for the entertainment of others" how do you expect me to gather information? Your critique of my research was, "You have to do more homework." How do you expect me to do that homework if every time I try to gather information Wheelyfixed says the methodology is wrong?

Re: Motivations for becoming a eunuch
Afternoon all,
I’d like to point out that I personally advised you to post your research questions within the forum, but that message appears to have been ignored at the time. So thank you for now posting this publicly.
Wheely is not attempting to obstruct you; he is looking out for the community. In the past, we have received similar requests for information, and unfortunately some of that information was later used in ways that reflected poorly on EAv2. As we are actively rebuilding the community, we are understandably cautious about repeating that experience.
I do understand that you are saying this research is for your own personal understanding. However, from the perspective of the community, that can still come across as unusual or concerning, especially given past experiences. That context is important to acknowledge.
To answer the specific question you raised: my reason for becoming a eunuch was not included in the options you listed. For me, it is tied to being asexual and non-binary.
I hope this helps clarify where we are coming from.

Re: Motivations for becoming a eunuch
To clarify, lots of members have posted about their reasons in different threads, There are also threads like the one NaturalEunuch pointed you at, with discussion about reasons in general. What I'm suggesting is that you START by looking at those threads, and participate in discussions, possibly asking relevant questions or otherwise contributing to the discussion...
I'm a Free Software user, which is very heavily dependent on the user communities around different programs. One of the very common things you will see is a post on 'How to ask for help' which will consistently say (along with other things) that you are encouraged to have at least tried to find the answer on your own... In general "How do I <X>?" will be ignored; but "I want to <X> and I read the docs, and have tried <Y>, it didn't work, what am I missing?" will get an answer quickly...
I've told you several times to read the existing threads first, THEN ask specific questions if you need to. I have also suggested in our PM's that you look up some of the existing relevant academic research, and gave you a pointer to T.W. Johnson, who is possibly the top expert on the subject of modern voluntary eunuchs. (most of the papers he's written have used research that he did with the knowledge and consent of the members of EAv2, under full IRB academic supervision) Have you read them? Your comments about the two answers you've gotten suggest to me that you haven't.
It is also the case that we still don't really know you that well, and having a new person come in and start asking personal questions without giving us a chance to know him does not sit well with a lot of us.

Thank you for your encouragement to check those threads, WheelyFixed. I said I won't ask private questions in the PRIVATE messages anymore. Also, how can I prove that I do not intend to do anything malicious? you keep saying you do not know me, how can you?... My name is Kole L. I am not a researcher; it's my own private research to better my personal understanding of the sexual sciences. There is no more information I can give you about myself. If you must, just be suspicious of me. There is no further proof I can do, Wheely, I genuinely do not want there to be any issues

Re: Motivations for becoming a eunuch
I guess main problem in this community, is that it was burned by previous 'researchers' and researchers before. Be it for documentaries, that later twisted or misrepresented the community, or something else. Given current political climate (and it's changes recently), I understand why community may be unwilling to answer to questions to someone without knowing more about them.Paul-Sapir wrote: Sun Dec 07, 2025 7:30 pm Thank you for your encouragement to check those threads, WheelyFixed.
