"Castration" as a unisex term

Those of you who have been reading the "Effects Of Castration" elsewhere in the archives have noted that the term "castration" was applied to both men and women at the time it was written, and wondering if it is still in use when applied to women. It fell into disuse, but may be in the process of making a comeback.
