RE: Dingbat

Post by JesusA »

I have just received a few minutes ago an email from Dingbat's cousin. He wrote to everyone whose address he could find on her computer. The central part of the email is below, with only Dingbat's street name changed to her Archive name:

Earlier today "Dingbat" went down to see her parents as her father had a fall. On the way down another car spun out of control and hit "Dingbat's" car head on and it cartwheeled off the motorway. The hospital rang to tell us about it. We went down to the hospital immediately and she has very serious head injuries and quite a few other injuries. She's in the intensive care. They have taken her for surgery and Josh is staying up there while I've come back to collect some things we need and then I'll go straight back down again.

The police told us the driver who hit her shoudn't have been on the road because he'd been banned but he was driving illegally and he was also drunk. He is in custody at the moment.

I've had extensive email contact with Dingbat and spent nearly four hours with her on the telephone on Saturday. She's every bit as nice and as interesting as she has appeared here on the Archive. Direct any positive thoughts you can toward Southwest England. I will pass on any further information as I receive it.

Dingbat is in my prayers. I've lost a close friend in December, my older brother and an uncle four weeks ago, enough already! Dingbat you can't leave us!

Words and music by queen

Sometimes i get to feelin'

I was back in the old days - long ago

When we were kids when we were young

Thing seemed so perfect - you know

The days were endless we were crazy we were young

The sun was always shinin' - we just lived for fun

Sometimes it seems like lately - i just don't know

The rest of my life's been just a show

Those were the days of our lives

The bad things in life were so few

Those days are all gone now but one thing is true

When i look and i find i still love you

You can't turn back the clock you can't turn back the tide

Ain't that a shame

I'd like to go back one time on a roller coaster ride

When life was just a game

No use in sitting and thinkin' on what you did

When you can lay back and enjoy it through your kids

Sometimes it seems like lately - i just don't know

Better sit back and go with the flow

Cos these are the days of our lives

They've flown in the swiftness of time

These days are all gone now but some things remain

When i look and i find no change

Those were the days of our lives - yeah

The bad things in life were so few

Those days are all gone now but one thing's still true

When i look and i find

I still love you

I still love you

Dingbat

When I was in a car accident 20 years ago, I had only 4 people rooting for my recovery.

You, my friend, have the greatest people on Earth rooting for you.

You have the enitre Eunuch Archive prayng for you.

Get well soon and suffer as little pain as possible.

With so many prayers and well wishes, God will surely take notice.

WE LOVE YOU Dingbat

I received the email below from "Dingbat's" cousin less than 5 minutes ago. I'll keep everyone updated as I learn anything. I'll also edit the comments made on this thread so that I can send them to Sergei.

++++++

Thanks for all the emails and texts. "Dingbat" had surgery and the hospital want to transfer her to a specialist head & spinal injuries unit but they can't do that until she's more stable. At the moment she's still critical. If she gets through the next 48 hours then they're hoping she'll be stable enough to transfer. She'll need more surgery if she stabilises. She has incomplete spinal injuries so they can't tell yet if she'll be able to walk, they have to wait to assess it later. At the moment her head injuries are causing the most concern. They've advised us to stay at the hospital. She's not awake but we've read the emails etc to her in case she can hear us.

I'll update when I can but I can't have the pda on in the ITU.

Well, if they're reading notes to her, then have them tell her, "Dingbat, if you do not recover, I shall be ... unhappy."

Hi Huevon,

Fortunately it appears they do have the offender in custody. So hopefully he won't be on the road for a long long time. But I still miss Dingbat :( and hope she's recovering well. So I am praying 🙏 to the angels 😇 to make sure she is 👌

Huggggggs,

Unfortunately, things do not look very good for Dingbat. Below is the latest message from her cousin. I will continue to forward any messages that are posted here so that Sergei and Josh can read them to her.

+++++

Hello Jesus,

Thanks for explaining who you are. "Dingbat" seems to know people from all sorts of walks of life and I've been finding it hard to work out who is who. She told me you spoke on the phone - I'm sure you're the same person. She'd also told me about the eunuch forum and how she was enjoying it. The messages from people are wonderful and I'll read them out to her. Thanks for posting a message to explain what's happened.

Things don't look good at the moment. Half her head was smashed in by the accident and even if she survives they're not sure how she'd be. She could have terrible brain damage they are not sure at the moment. In one way we're not sure what we're hoping for right now if you know what I mean.

"Dingbat" is an amazing person and she is more like my best friend than my cousin. Josh is my partner and we're both filled with rage at the moment at the drunk driver. "Dingbat" wouldn't want us to be angry but it's hard not to be.

We're taking it in turns to sit with her. Not sure if she's aware we're there or not.

I'll keep sending the updates and hope to have more positive news to report tomorrow.

I know that I am devastated by the news about "Dingbat"/Maia. I knew her for but a short while, but she was a true jewel among humanity. She was kind, caring, witty, and incredibly bright. She and I were making plans to do some research and writing together.

I'm leaving her cousin Sergei's email address below should anyone care to send condolences directly to Maia's family.

Dr. Maia A. Wittelsbach-Tereshchenko will be greatly missed.

+++++

I'm sorry to have to let you know in this way that Maia died early this morning. It wasn't looking very good yesterday evening and overnight things went downhill. It was clear she had very severe and probably permanent brain injuries which would have left her very seriously disabled had she survived.

I don't really know what else to say at the moment apart from saying we can't imagine life without her. She was someone who was always supportive, always there for other people and never judgemental. She had a frightening intelligence which was made less scary by her very quick wit and tolerant and compassionate nature. Most of all she had integrity and she stood up for what she believed in. She worked tirelessly on things she considered to be injustices whether to do with intersex issues or judicial process or anything else. She wasn't a do gooder but she really believed in the idea that we should all be prepared to stand up for each other if we want people to stand up for us. I always admired her for that.

That some drunken idiot can wipe out such a wonderful and worthwhile life in one thoughtless moment has left us very angry and distraught with grief. We know there are also many other people grieving with us.

The amount of emails and texts we've had from people has been very supportive. Some people who've known her for years and others for only a short time. It has been very supportive to know that so many people cared about her and were wishing her well. We are very grateful to all the people who sent messages and we read a great many of them to her.

I don't really know what else to write at the moment but feel free to get in touch with us at any time.

Sergei & Joshak

I thoroughly enjoyed reading and following Dingbat's posts, and will miss them, their obvious intelligence and charming wit. My sympathies, and heartfelt condolences go to her family and friends with a sharp pain that is awakened. I lost my second youngest brother this same way 22 years ago, and the pain, occasional rage yet remaining, and the vacancy left behind is perhaps the worst part. "Ours" are gone and they no longer have pain, yet we do have memories - may they be cherished, Sergei & Joshak.
