How should we refer to the previous EA?

How should we refer to the previous EA?

Post by WheelyFixed »

I'm a lazy typist... I suspect that given the situation we are probably going to be referring to stuff from the old EA forum frequently, at least for a while... So any ideas on what we might want to use for a quick reference to the two forums?

This one is easy "NEA"

Do we want to just stick with "EA" for the old one, which might get confusing, or pick something to use for the old EA, like "OEA" or possibly "OE1" (yes I know there was a previous version of EA to the current one MANY years ago, but given that the change then was just the software and not the people running things, I think of them as the same, so this would be the 2nd incarnation...)

What do people think we should use for a TLA (Three Letter Abbreviation) for the old EA forum?

To be honest I have been calling it EAv2 and here EAv3.

EAv1 I wonder if the wayback machine would let us have a look at what it was.

That works no problem... I don't know about the wayback machine, but I know that I've occasionally found threads on EAv2 dating back to 2002 if not earlier, some of them talking about the recovery from EAv1....

Wow! Look at the circa 2000 EA forum. Just ten categories. We have nearly 50 categories. Very different approach.

I've suggested that we arguably have to many categories as well, it is worth noting that the old EAv2 had a different mix of areas, but about the same number overall... And then most of the posts were in "Castration Central" except for a few of the long running topics like the movie and weather threads....

My opinion is that other than a few specific questions directly related to the "mechanics" of a particular type of surgery, 90% of the issues we deal with as eunuchs or wannabees are the same or very similar no matter exactly what bits we've gotten rid of... As such it doesn't seem like there is a lot of benefit to having conversations split up into huge numbers of subtopic areas....

I like the new layout of the board index. Much cleaner and more manageable.

EA I, II, III does it for me, they seem like chapters in a book rather than new books. And our new leaders were part of the previous incarnations of EA so there is a continuation. I have been a member through all 3 and really it a great shame that the "old" leadership didn't see fit to hand over to the new generation. It speaks to their character or lack of it !
