For discussion of "The Archive Needs You!"

Post by BossTamsin (imported) »

The Eunuch Archive is getting ready to grow again. Honestly, you should see the plans we have for the future, they're just incredible. Unfortunately, we're reaching the stage where not only do we need money to grow, but to survive, and for that we need your help.

In the last month alone, the Eunuch Archive has had over 650,000 visits, nearly 21 million hits, and used close to 300 gigabytes of bandwidth. Those are some pretty incredible numbers, and the bandwidth alone has increased over 50% in the last year. Most of that growth coincides with the addition of the new personals section.

So we turn to you. We need to raise money to continue the EA's growth, and keep the site going, so unfortunately we're asking for donations. We can't accept credit cards or Paypal at the moment, but would appreciate any who can do so to send their donation to:

PO Box closed. Please PM Kristoff to mail donations.

PLEASE address the envelope to "Wyrm Wyvern LLC", and if you're sending a money order, please make it out to "Wyrm Wyvern LLC" as well.

As well please include your username, as we do have rewards in mind for anyone who donates over $10.

Once again, the EA needs donations, not only to grow, but to survive. Please send whatever you can to:

PO Box closed. Please PM Kristoff to mail donations.

I guess it's time for all of us to pitch in and help keep the ARKive afloat. My donation will go out with the morning mail.

I assume that small bills in the coin of the realm will work as well as a check. I'll stick in a note so that you know who it's from.

Absolutely cash works. For many, that's likely easier than worrying about money orders, cheques and the like.

Everyone: Just be sure the cash isn't visible in the envelope. Wrap some newspaper or something opaque around the money, so it's not as visible through the envelope, just in case.

Just so that folks are aware, "Wyrm Wyvern, LLC" is the name of the company we have established to "own" the EA and everything related (forums, chat, personals, etc.).

Wyrm and Wyvern are both names of mythical winged fire breathing dragons (fire drakes) - we thought it might be an interesting name.

I have already made my contribution. Thanks for helping.

Exhalted General IE,

Although like Grouncho Marx, I am wary of joining any organization that would have me as a member, I have been fairly welcomed here -- by both members with members and by members sans members.

I salute you and your excellent army.

I'll shut up now and put my money where my mouth is. Then I'll send you some saliva-covered cash. It will have beautiful pictures of Queen E on it -- I think she may be a T-girl Q-girl.

Herr Laser Saber,

I was planning to send anonymously. Would you prefer that we identify ourselves on the return address and/or inside the envelope?

Danka.

The Archive would certainly prefer that you include your <Archive Name> inside the envelope so that we know who to thank. Otherwise, anonymity is fine. You can even mail the envelope from a town far away so that we don't know where you live.

If you are mailing cash, you should probably wrap it in a piece of paper so that it can't be seen through the envelope. Just write your name on that paper. Or, cut the letters out of a newspaper for further anonymity, if you wish.

I will be sending something. I'm not exactly sure just how soon though, and maybe it might be in installments if it's OK.

The immediate changes we wish to make will probably take in the vicinity of 350-450 right away to make them. I've covered a chunk of it. I am aware that many here are not in a position to either offer anything, or very much over all. That is perfectly OK. We want to keep the discussion forums open to all, and this will help. If each active member sent what they are able to I am certain we could cover our remainders fine. There will be certain benefits (all I can say right now :)) down the road.

Contributions can be sent via cash, money order, or even personal check (strictest confidence held) to:

I will keep a running tally here as a count down as we achieve our goal.

Again thank you for keeping the EA going the best it can be.

Been a member here for 7 yrs. What an ungrateful lout I'd be to not give financial help to the Archives when needed. I've had the benefits, so should shoulder some of the responsibilities too.

I go by Allen for membership, Allen and Allen Baker as author names, MakeMineHurt in chatroom and profiles. hmm guess with all the identities and multiple catagories of use, I need to make multiple donations as well. My check is in the male -- er mail!! (Don't you just love Fruedian slips?);)

When I checked the PO box this evening I found a total of $140 dollars in contributions. A very fine start. I will sent PMs acknowledging receipt of funds donated. Don't want to embarrass anyone, so I won't publicly list names or such, just sing their praises. Thank you!

Yikes, you know, I haven't sent an actual postage letter (stamp? wtf is that??) in over a decade! I found an envelope but the only stamp I could find is from a drawer in the basement worth 42 cents haha.

I will send my envelope off to you on Monday morning when the post office is open.

This is great; thanks for the opportunity to support this fantastic site.
