Odd Question
Back in 1999 I underwent a vasectomy. I told the surgeon to ensure it could not be reversed as I had 2 daughters and wanted to ensure there wasn't a chance of my wife becoming pregnent again. (I love my kids to death - it was just I was caught in a very unhappy marriage.)
Anyway wouldn't you know it. I am now dating a young lady who is 20 years younger than me, and whom I love to death. She is interested in having kids. I know it is almost impossible that my vascectomy can be reversed. Is it possible however to drain sperm from the testicles (as I am still producing sperm) and from there we could "manually" inject it into her?
Thanks for any help anyone here can give.

Re: Odd Question
Here is some information from St. Luke's in St. Louis, covering surgery to restore fertility, sperm production and health after vasectomy, sperm aspiration, etc.

I would love to have Mr. Jane's reversed. Since I turned 30 I have been overcome with the overwhelming desire for another baby, but in my case it is not meant to be, it appears.

Sad. For as much as I know it is not possible to restore fertility if piece of vas defrense is cut away. Sperms are not fully matured in testicles and not usable in normal manner as they need other components that are produced in prostate and other glands to became fully operational.
I have heard about some promising methods. Only that will be extremely expensive for sure and could not be 100% successful.

Re: Odd Question
If you made a LOGICAL decision that you did not want anymore kids, you shouldn't let that be changed by someone else. Just don't let her make the mistake of letting her get knocked up by another man (sperm doner). There is a VERY high probablility that you'd end up paying child support for a kid that isn't even yours.

Re: Odd Question
Yeah, but. There is the very cold and logical legal evidence on who is Dad and who pays. But kids are also a matter of the heart. After you have had sleepess nights while they are sick, gone thru the emergency hunt for a bathroom about 15 minutes after leaving the house, held their hand when taking them to their very first day of school (with wet eyes) and gotten a great big old hug when you wake them in the morning, then maybe being a Dad is defined differently than the law would. Some guys are totally incapable of bonding with anything but a beer or a job. Others can. I vote that he should carefully consider who he is and where his is in life and what he can commit to. Then make a decision. It isn't just a medical decision of what is possible.

Re: Odd Question
Well said Arab Nights. The one of the happiest moments of my life is when my seven year old "step" grandson said to me, "Grampy your the best." It isn't who's testicles the sperm comes from, it's who love them that matters.
Re: Odd Question
As anyone at the Midwest MOM whom I tortured with my pictures and stories about the boys can tell you, I feel much the same way.
Any day now, and the oldest of the Pack's first son will be arriving.
It's hard to believe he's 21 now and out on his own and expecting a child. Makes me feel old...

Re: Odd Question
I appologise. Instead of answering the question that you asked, I interjected an unsolicited opinion about something that is very personal and very individual. Just whatever decision you make, don't rush it and make sure it's what YOU really want. I wish you success in whatever path you choose!

Do a google search and find a clinic near you. Most vasectomies are reversable regardless of the technique. (unless you have been castrated) Find a reliable clinic and GO FOR IT.
Do not hide the fact from your lady friend. Get her support and get things out in the open.
There is no way to extract the sperm from the testicles in quantities great enough to insure fertility.
Get the reversal surgery. O.K.?

Panty Boy - I'm a caring individual guy and would happily impregnate your woman.
I'm just not sure if wolf and human sperm are compatible.

Re: Odd Question
My reversal cost $8,000. I, also was with a gal much younger, and got caught up with the idea of parenthood. I'm glad I put an end to the whole crazy idea lost year. She would have cost me a hell of alot more than $8,000! While a person I still dearly love, my ex is a certified lazy ass. Until kids are risk free or just plain free for you, your better of getting a dog!
Remember if you do decide to get the reversal that the fertility clinic is going to inflate their fertility numbers any way possible. Since most fertility isssues are not covered by insurance...there is little oversite into whether or not their numbers bear any truth.
Find a dr. that does several a week and avoid one that only does a couple a year!

Re: Odd Question
Keep in mind that there are plenty of homeless kids out there already without bringing another into this messed up world. Instead of spending the money on a surgery to conceive to a child that (IMHO) it may be far too soon to decide if you both really want, consider adoption. Having a child is a serious undertaking, as I'm sure you'll understand or recall once you stop and think about it.
