Do eunuchs snore?

Post by merlin (imported) »

Hello everybody,

I have read a short article which stated, that castrated men do not snore anymore. Can anybody confirm that?

And by the way: This would not be the reason for me to be castrated, but one of the side effects, that I'd like to know about.

Do bears shit in the woods?

The cause of snoring has nothing to do with ownership or lack of, testicles.

I snore, at least I was told I did by a young man who snored louder than I did. One of us a eunuch and the other intact. Oh and a eunuch from accross the pond I know does snore softly with a slight accent.

I don't think I can agree with Losethem, because, according to my wife, since I was (chemically) castrated, I've stopped snoring. At least she no longer wakes me up at night because I'm snoring, which used to be a common practice.

But then, maybe my wife has become hard of hearing. Any studies to show that a man's being castrated makes his wife deaf 😄?

From an evolutionary standpoint, it makes sense. When people slept in caves, what protected then from wild animals while they were asleep? Perhaps making a noise like an animal growling helped protect them. And, of course, the male, being the protector of the family, was the loudest "growler". Sure, women growl, too, but not as much. Men have prominent "Adam's apples". Maybe there are other gender related difference in our throats that produce snoring.

I know a few eunuchs who snore.

It's fun to sneak up on them and pinch their noses shut, too... ;)

I don't think eunuchs snore anymore than the general public. They do get blamed however and hate being awoken not naked!

Paolo, damn you, cut it out!!!!......Seriously, from what I've been told it makes no difference. I can't tell you for sure because I was asleep.

Medically anyone man ( with or without testicles) or woman will snore if the neck circumferance is more than 17.5 inches as the wind pipe is supressed in sleep, thus causing the mouth to fall open. Larger neck circumferances , generally on the clinically obese tend lead to sleep apnea.

Think some people just plane snore. Kids snore, I think I can remember my baby brother and sister even snored once in a while.

Believe it not it is true! Well partly! Testosterone is a nocturnal respiratory suppressant, and can cause the respiratory muscles to relax while sleeping, hence! This will cause snoring. And even worse if over weight. One the other side of things, progesterone is a respiratory stimulant, this is why very few women snore before menopause. I have sleep apnea, while chemically castrated it stopped. I am thin and don't snore much. but I do stop breathing during sleep.

Seems to me like most other side effects - some get em, some don't.
