Pay the bill

Post by Jean Op den Kamp (imported) »

It is more then a year ago that I became member of the E.A.

(for Kristoff, this means Eunuch Archive)

I think I remember seeing something about a possibility to make a donation. Cann't find this right now.

It is so easy to take everything for granted, and forget about the time.

I don't want to show of with the idea of making a donation, but maybe there are more members with the same feelings.

First of all, I know nothing about the costs of this wonderful site and how they are payed for.

And it would be great to read an explanation of the possibility to make a donation.

Maybe it could be an idea to offer a way for people to pay (of one's own volition) an annual fee. Just remember one as another year has past

I like/love to hear from you guys

It is refreshing when we see someone that appreciates what we do behind the scenes. Someone that is looking out for the good of the Archive. For years much of the site was supported by the staff. Once in a while we asked for help. The link in the above posting is how we ask when our funds get on the low side.

🙏 for asking and 🙏 for caring.

Thanks, I had a short look. If I need to send cash in an envelope from Vietnam, I better flush it down the toilet myself. They need to wait at least about ten days.

Why cann't EA offer a bankaccount and swiftcode for people who are not scared to support them. By internet banking I can send it right now from behind my pc at vietnam using my dutch account.

Sure, I like to send 10,01 usd so I will be one to reward.....

The fuck with anonymity, if I like to send maybe an anual fee of about 100USD, I like to be shore that that money reaches the EA.

Wrap some paper around it, and maybe cut the letters for your name from a newspaper. I am not that sick you know

We don't use merchant accounts because they are too expensive to maintain - they'd eat up everything sent.

Jean,

Donations are not required, and if there's no safe way for you to send one, then don't worry about it. In some cases, it is the thought that counts.

Yes, mailing cash can be a bit dodgy.

I believe the SWIFT code he was referring to refers to the bank, just a commercial bank account. With bank name, address, account number, transit code and SWIFT code, people can send money from anywhere. Your bank can give you all of these. It actually is not a bad idea. I sent money last summer while travelling and the envelope of course half way discombobulated when I tried to close it. I just hoped the tape would hold.

Of course, this is a good idea only if people with this information cannot take money out from anywhere in the world.

Thanks for all the work behind the scenes. I know it is a lot even if I know nothing about what you do.

I have opened a private bank account for Ph**** here at Vietnam. There has to be a minimum of 50.000 dong inside to keep it running(4usd) so I can send money for "my family" as this "Vietnamese" needs to go abroad making the money they need!

A normal privat account will do. I don't know about the USA, but I guess if the E.A. or any of you guys has a normal bankaccount, the problem could be solved. I need the name and address of the bank(city), the swiftcode of the bank and the number and name of the account the money is send for. Your bank can have you all that information. Sending the money, I can choose the option that the costs will all be on my account. I cannot imagine that this is working all around the world only not for USA

Thanks for the attempt Paolo, to make me feel comfortable.

But I don't believe that you all are the kind of guys that is asking for money, if it is not required.

I realize that I can read required in two ways, looking at me as a member, or looking as a member at what you are doing. (You see, my english is getting a little better). So this time I feel free not to believe you, because I read it the way a member should do!

Pay-Pal doesn't like BME either. One trick they like to pull is collect funds, bill the payee, take the money, then keep it because "they object to the site who is to be paid".

Yep, but I am not asking about pay-pal or I-deal. Just an existing simple paying service between normal banking-accounts. Please first ask about it at your bank, and let us know if it is a possibility

I assume that the situation is different however here in Europe they have incorporated themselves as a bank and are thus regulated. If they pulled such a scam they'd be in deep do-do. The most they can do is refuse a merchant account (which of course they do for anything they think dubious).

April 21, I had the Eunuch Archive pay the bill for the DNS server for the coming year. This is for the chat room connection.

It was nice knowing that we had the funds to do this in our bank account. The account is healthy. 🙏
