You are one of the wittiest fellows here and you are impecably dressed looking like a gentleman's gentleman.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY calmeilles
Calmeilles I hope you had a Happy Birthday. I enjoy reading your posts and your perspective on many issues. I agree that both your dress and posts are that of a gentleman. I look forward to more of your postings throughout the years.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY calmeilles
I'd like to send my belated wishes to you for your Birthday. I've asked Mrs Bridges if she'd do a cake for you but she's a bit adrift these days. Anyway have a great Bank Holiday Weekend and enjoy the sunshine.
My very best wishes.
My very best wishes.

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY calmeilles
He guys, gals and others as you choose or find yourselves.
Thank you all very much for your good wishes. I wasn't around to say so at the time because I took family and friends off to a cottage (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mymuk/3477424938/) in the country to celebrate with dinner in an historic house (http://www.flickr.com/photos/steve_brac ... 423826441/). No net (not even much mobile phone coverage) so I'm only just catching up.
I great time was had by all (or so they tell me). A friend set up his camera to take some time lapse photography of the party, quite unknown to me, and put this together http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLiKBTtmpPk it's only 40 seconds long.
I cooked (http://groups.google.com/group/uk.food+ ... 186d16b5be) and cooked and cooked again. The waved goodbye to everyone and had a blissful four days of doing nothing but walking the lanes and reading. http://www.flickr.com/photos/calmeilles/ the pics from "Walk" on that page to "Blossom" on the next are the relevant ones.

Matthew
PS Yes, Mac, I hope I was smart, white tie and tails for the big dinner. I do need to find one of my friends who took a picture of me in them!

Re: HAPPY BIRTHDAY calmeilles
What? No cake???
At my request mother cooked a Christmas cake*. Reminded because I had the last slice last night.
Oh, and for Mac me in white tie (http://www.flickr.com/photos/ghostwheel ... 835790375/) (though you can't see the tails).
Matthew
* Don't know if this is transatlantic, English style Christmas cake is a heavy and very rich fruit cake matured for months and dosed with alcohol so by the time you eat it it's very moist and almost black.
