I figured I would bump this thread and give another update.

I found myself presenting as female 24/7 for the most part and suddenly started feeling VERY uncomfortable being referred to as male and using the mens bathroom, etc. So I officially went full time at work early March! They made the announcement to my division and to department heads across campus. I work in a public office at Penn so there was no way for it to be a low key 'coming out'.

The transition at work was a bit bumpy because Penn didn't have any protocols or policies dealing with transition. I worked with one of the directors at the LGBT center and got everything worked out. Name change in my records as well as gender marker change. New ID, etc. Legal name change will be in the works soon.

Two weeks later I find myself in front of the University Council lobbying for the inclusion of trans-related medical treatments (laser/electrolysis, SRS, FFS, HRT, et) in our insurance policy. Everyone applauded so it was well received. About a month later the student version of insurance was approved (up to $50,000). Needless to say I am very excited! I can't see Penn would say yes to students and no to staff.

As far as HRT goes I am got my doctor to put me on injectable estrogen and progesterone to fast-track feminization and breast growth. Things are improving!

Well, I will periodically bump this threat and give updates.

When this happened at my workplace (before I retired) and a person went from male-to-female living, they set aside one of the smaller washrooms for the transitioning person. You might call it an "it" bathroom but when you think about it... it makes women uncomfortable to have a person dressed as a woman and retaining a penis in the washroom and it's not polite to send a person dressed as a woman into a men's room. So for that one year time of transition, we need a polite solution.

A decade earlier when they moved a handicapped person into a remote building with an inaccessible men's room, the bosses took another washroom and made it multi-sexual using a sign on the door -- men occupied, women occupied and unoccupied. It worked.

In Philadelphia it is against the law to not let someone use the appropriate bathroom for the gender they identify with. At least at the workplace it is illegal. I have ran into no problems at all so far. All the ladies are very welcoming! And I imagine the guys are more comfortable now.

Hi Everyone, thought I would post an update. I haven't been here in a while.

Everything is still smooth sailing outside of a few assholes out there who seem to be amused by me and seem to enjoy entertainment at my expense.

I am REALLY enjoying living my life as a woman. I have had no serious problems at all and just feel much more comfortable in my own skin. I am more happy than I have ever been in my life. I can't stop smiling! I actually feel giddy at times just because of my happiness and do a little dance. I was NEVER this way before i got my hormones corrected.

It took me a while to learn how to dress as a woman and to wear makeup, etc. I finally found my own style which was harder than I thought it would be.

Welcome to the Zoo and I mean that in the sincerest of terms there are a lot of good people here that are genuine. Since being castrated and also M to F transgendered I have only good things to say about this forum, my experiences have been nothing but good. There is a lot of information out there.
