Then again there are days I'd like to have a serious talk with the guy who said "may we live in interesting times."
It was "may you live in interesting times," and it was an old Chinese curse. Sounds like someone has cursed you with it.

On the plus side, I no longer have Monty living on my back porch. It's so nice to have access to my washer without stepping over him or tripping on his junk.
On the minus side, he's now sleeping on my front porch, without my permission. Most days and nights, I can barely get out the door. I tried calling the police but they said they wouldn't interfere in a domestic matter which didn't involve violence. *sigh*

I just now had to force my way out just to get the door open. I ordered Monty to move so I could open my door all the way, he refused. So I pulled out his sleeping from under him and dragged him off my steps.
Monty began yelling obscenities about my dead mother. I was enraged and tried to hit him in the face but the lil bastard won't fight. He uses the "Monty Technique" which is "flame and retreat."
When I returned from getting lunch, he was NOT blocking my porch but was sitting on the steps.
Tonight, if he's blocking the door, I'm going to turn the hose on him. I'll make sure I throughly soak his sleeping bag too.

go to the store get some no trespassing signs put them up. next time he blocks the door call cops and have him arrested for trespassing.I can't believe that the cops won't haul him away. Last resort would be a restraining order then they would HAVE to haul him off. Dave

I thought you talked him into moving in with someone else?
See if you can get a "restraining order".

There's a plan in the works to remove Monty from my front porch. It involves a Board friend from Los Angeles and the County Sheriffs Dept.

This morning I decided to brave the 103 degree heat and g buy more ice. As I got out in the yard, Monty confronted me. He was bitching because I refused to let him in the house to watch TV with Liz's friends. I tried to ignore him but he grabbed my cart and refused to let me leave till he was ready.
I moved around the cart, grabbed him and flung him away from my cart. Then I left for the store. I have no idea where my strength to do that came from.
BTW, I'm 63 and Monty s 39.

After I returned from the store that day Monty confronted me, I waited for him to leave. Once he took off down the street, I went outside, grabbed his bedding off my front porch, took it to my backyard and tossed it over my back wall.
Monty hasn't been seen since
I don't doubt he'll return but I'm glad to have a clear front porch for a few days.

Two bits of news today:
* The temperature here is 113 F. Can anyone top that today?
* The reason Monty disappeared from my porch involved lots of hammering last night. Today, I discovered he has built himself a makeshift shelter in my driveway, off to the side. Though I don't want him anywhere on my property, at least he's off my front porch.
If he has electrical hookups to my house, I'll terminate them.

Code enforcement will make you take it down if not give you a fine as well for building a structure with out a permit. Make him take it out NOW! he has no right at all to do this.

Actually, Code enforcement just called me and said the same thing. Liz volunteered to go out and tear it down.
When it cools down a bit from 113 degrees. I'll go help her.
