As I stated I would not have wanted castration until I was 16 or 18. I do think the body should have it's growth cycle. Now I never thought gay marriage would happen in my lifetime but the times are a changing. We have had doctors willing to do castrations on adult males at their request. No it is not widespread but it is happening.
I'm thinking it may go the route of SRS where there is a lot of counseling and a 'real life test' on chemical castration for at least a year. I don't think it will be where you can just wake up one day and go to the Dr and say I'd like those off please.
The few doctors who have/are doing it now on demand are a few individuals, not the general medical community at large.

Colorado's 6 year old Coy Mathis is making news.
The school board doesn't know what to do.
Headlines are that the individuals involved are having trouble with the rest of the busy bodies.

Where I used to work had one transgender person go into transition (male to female) and it wasn't obvious what kind of chaos might ensue.
Several things were in her favor (as she is a female now, I refer to her as "her"):
a) the head of the entire place supported the transition. Not just her boss but her boss' boss' boss (three management levels above)
b) we had a spare washroom that was not used very often and could be designated as "other" than "male" or "female" for the year. That's important to the transgendered transition but doesn't interfere with the ubiquitous (that's a funny word in these circumstances) males and females that used the other washrooms.
c) when presenting as a female, you refer to the transgendered person as female or she. Same when they present as a male - you use "him"... That solves the most and usually first question.
In the transition year there will be days when the transition is not successful and cringingly so. The uninvolved just need to cope and not offer unsolicited opinions.
d) When asked by kids or by strangers "What's that?" I found that the simple declarative sentence "she's undergoing the transition from male to female" to be the best answer.
When asked "why" I didn't know and said the wonderful three words "I don't know." If pressed on that a second time I would typically answer in polite terms "It's not my business to ask." That usually shut off the questions.
e) The other kids in school simply have to be told the truth -- "that boy wants to be a girl."
I suspect that the school is trying to learn that. It isn't as easy as it seems but then, if a coworker was going through bereavement or cancer treatment in the family or a serious surgery, there would be understanding.
The ont thing I know about transgendered persons are that to the outsider they are terribly confusing and chaotic. Patience is required to deal with that -- and patience is something that costs nothing.

When I was 11 years old I had a fantasy about being castrated and as Atreyu69 says I never thought about asking to have my balls cut off. But I still wonder and fantasize how my life would have been when I was castrated at the age of 11.

With 11 I have seen myself "smooth" and tryed to realize this with superglue.

I've been wondering a lot recently, even though it's impossible as I was a completely different person back then, could I have been able to be a child forever if I were castrated at 11 or 12 or any time younger? I know castration alone would not make me a child forever, but if I ate very little, would that have done the trick, or would I have become deformed and/or crippled from malnutrition?

I always thought there should be a minimum age requirement. Something like 40 years old. When you are in your 20's and 30's you tend to make too many decisions with no or little thought to the decision.. It is a shame when people become Eunuch and then later regret it.

Well, both being a eunuch and fasting are both ancient "rituals" so to speak, and I bet it's been both combined many times before. Don't know if it's recommendet though=p

It's too late for me anyway, but if I could turn back time to when I was 11 I would certainly try it.

"too late"??? never... you've only got me by a couple of years.... and i'm getting my balls put into a jar TOMORROW...Saturday the 2nd by Dr. A. I looked at your profile...and have the same feelings and desires as you for most of my life. Now I have the peace and happiness of living as Her eunuch slave. I would have loved to have been castrated at 11...or younger. mentally I was in many ways...just not physically...so I developed as a male. This morning, laying in bed, thinking about my past and how it might have been different...I expressed those thoughts to my Mistress....less than 24 hr away from surgery. She told me She understood. I believe She actually does. I hope you can, and do, find what you need.... never give up. john

Oh of course I'm still going to be castrated as soon as possible, but it is too late to be a child forever, or at least look like one.

If you were castrated at 11, then by now you would have not looked like a child. Your limbs would have grown out of proportion, as there was no testosterone to stop big bone growth. And probably had some man boobs. It is called eunuchoidism. And if you look pictures of old eunuchs, they just look as old as any other male of same age.
I don't know how testosterone affects brain developement, but I am sure it does.

I'm fully aware of that, that's why I wondered if I could have found a way around that by starving myself.

No, starving yourself only results in starvation and the resulting bone disease and other systemic organ problems.

Starvation does sound drastic, what about just limiting the diet to about one meal every other day, would that significantly limit a eunuch child's growth?

I keep staring at the topic and thinking about the minimum age. It's all so circumstantial and conditional that I'm really not of one fixed mind.
I do know what I might say:
If you aren't the child's parents then the when the law considers the person an adult is the earliest you can agree.
If you are the child's parents then when the child can express himself or herself in clear and convincing terms would be appropriate.
In the case of ambiguous genitalia then I don't have a good answer.
But I'm interested in reading all opinions.

In case of ambiguous genitals, IMHO, the only workable solutions is: leave it as is, unless absolutely medically necessary. If it is a medical necessity - do a minimum repair, do not reassign.
The thing is, that you can not predict gender identity.
Re the "law considers somebody an adult" - I have problems with the definition of "adult" by age, but unfortunately can not suggest anything better.
(By what criteria one is considered an adult?).

adulthood is a definition in most of the world. It has always been inconsistent, arbitrary, and never defined by medicine...
Being of a certain age, I remember when kids were drafted into th army to fight in Vietnam at eighteen and not allowed to drink alcohol until twenty-one.
The legal system in the USA considers the eighteenth birthday as the day a person may be held to a contract. Below that date, minors can rescind a contract. Also at Eighteen one can drink alcohol legally. Being tried for a crime as an adult is another squishy and imprecisely defined situation.
It's also funky that driving can be legal at 14 (farm equipment in some states) or 16 (learner's permits and licenses)
Below the age of about seven (first grade) a child is under control of parents.
Between seven and 12 or 14, in most states (and yes, it gets that detailed and varied) children have some rights that they can advocate on their own.
I do know from experience that money held in trust for a child is under the strict control of the adult trustee until the age of fourteen. BEtween fourteen and sixteen the child has the rights to name the trustee of that money. At sixteen to eighteen, the child can use the money on their own decision. The age there is not eighteen. I've been that trustee and it's not as simple as that.
So what does all this mean for a child who says -- I want to be a girl not a boy -- or the child who says -- I want to be a man and not a woman and play sports and lift weights...
Confusion and indecision and nothing well defined.
I picked those last two examples deliberately...
We do hear stories of little boys who want to be girls at early ages.
However, there are girls who are athletic and yet quite feminine and live as a woman.
Seemingly contradictory situations...
So it seems to me that society isn't prepared for gender decisions. Castration is irreversible and it seems to me that none of my discussion about gender is in anyway irreversible. Those two things clash.

There are drugs which stop puberty, and but can damage the person if taken to long, (puberty will not happen).

I know I'll be taken to task for saying this but I'd say about age ten. No ten year old boy is going to ask to have his balls cut off unless he's really sure he wants it. At that age I liked the fantasy of castration but I would have died before asking for it.
It seems to be outside the realms of fantasy that a ten-year-old, however precocious, is going to come out with "Mommy, I feel so girly today, will you take me to the clinic so's I can have my balls taken out?" On the other hand as I've said elsewhere, children are very susceptible to suggestion. The only thing standing between the ten-year-old and an irreversible step in the wrong direction is the fact that in most countries, castration of children is an illegal operation.
The many websites featuring Asian T-girls all indicate that they were "done" in their teens, by which time they presumably knew which way their orientation was heading.

I "buy" some of this though not all. A lot of little boys find the notion of being castrated exciting. My mother used to regale me with tales of "French page boys who have their little balls taken out so that they can't "do it". Also "All boy-horses have their balls taken out so they can't "do it". I used to tingle all over - and more besides - at the thought of having my balls taken out. But that doesn't mean I wanted

it done.
Now. Here's a scenario. Ten-year-old boy says "Mommy,
I feel so girly today, will you take me to the clinic and have my balls taken out?" Mommy: "Sure, dearest. And when those nasty balls have been seen to, we'll buy you a pretty dress, and then you'll always be Mommy's sweet darling girl".
