Well, the lancets didn't come in yet but Brandy assures me they'll be in tomorrow (Thursday). Also, Lenscrafters called to say all my glasses were ready to be picked up - hooray.

I am with the VA and they do not give test equipment so its out of pocket, I really don't have a complaint about this because they do provide everything else.

So if the test strips cost me a few bucks, its OK, averaged out its pennies.

I thought that the Wolf was now on Medicare. They should pay for all of your diabetes testing supplies. All they need is your doctor's prescription.

Congress in a move to save us from ourselves elected to go with the A1c test only at the VA. I am not sure if Medicare is the same.

Now if your taking meds for Diabetes, they will supply them but if your just watching your diet they only need a test once every 3 months, that tells them everything they need to know.

(of course it does not tell you shit)

I'm exhausted today. I ran three errands: (1) I went to Inland Center Mall to pick up my three pairs of glasses. (2) I went to Walgreens and bought a new test meter, test strips and new lancets. (3) I went to grocery story to buy Cokes and TV dinners.

I have a doctor's appointment on October 2nd, I'll ask her for Rx for all my lancets and test strips.

I tried to test my blood sugar and realized I'm not understanding the meter. I'm taking the meter, box of strips and several lancets back to Walgreens to see if the pharmacist can show me how to read the meter.

Ok, I figured out my meter and used it - my sugar was too damn high - 199

Actually, I was too embarassed yesterday to tell what my blood sugar really was. It was 256. Today was a bit better: 206, though I'll be happier when my numbers are averaging 125.

So how can we best help you? Other than cutting off your (dough) nuts ?

I don't get it, I checked my blood this morning like every morning and its been running about 155 or so yet tonight after eating ribs its 112.

Like I said, I don't get it.

Do you have to enter a code from the strips into your meter? Did your meter come with a vial of fluid to run a test on the strips? The machine or the strips can be malfunctioning.

Definitely, you should run a test strip. A fasting reading that high is way too high. Also, are your Cokes regular or diet? Regular Coke is providing a lot of sugar...?

The pharmacist ran a test on my meter and said it was accurate. I drink only DietCokes. The reason my blood sugar was 256 that one day was because I foolishly visited Sees' Candy store and inhaled eight pieces. I know,. I know.

Heheh. Mine was 64 last night. Felt strange.

Carrots are a first cousin to the sugar beet.. Try diagonally cut carrots dipped in chocolate.

I saw my doctor today. My blood sugar was 108 - woo hoo

Good job! Managed to get my A1C down to 5.8, but bad cholestrol is too high. You getting blood tests at all so you know what's going on?

Yes, my Doc set me up for a series of blood tests, a stool exam, and a visit to an optomalogist. She also said my BP was a bit elevated.
