FINALLY I can report some good news...actually, it's GREAT news.

Ken and plix dropped by my house tonight and brought me three Christmas presents, all of which I deeply appreciate, some more others :)

1. A proverbial but tangible Lump of Coal. Actually, it's made from styrofoam but is looks real and much less polluting.

2. A six pack of liquid refreshment which is chilling in the fridge as I type. Guinness Draught. I think I spelled that correctly. After seven Diet Cokes I get wild in my composing.

3. An external hard drive containing all the files of my former computer, all 400 Mgs worth.

Almost everything on my old Hard Drive contained stuff relevent to the 1,784 video tapes I've taped on government, history and some movies too. I had hard copies of every tape in one of 96 three-ring binders but I needed the old HD to access the Indexes of topics and all the cross-references.

If I had taped a documentary of the Barbary Pirates, there would be cross references by U.S. and World historical dates, famous personalities involved (as in Steven Decatur), U.S. Foreign Policy, U.S. Military Interventions and of course by nation...in this case, mostly Tripoli.

I'm a happier wolf with all of his toys back now. 😄

Now if I only had:

The Wisdom of Our Jesus (no, not that jesus)

The Technical Knowhow of Ken_SD

The Humility of Plix

The Mac-Wisdom of Markle

The Saintlyness of Sister Kristoff

Paolo's Sword of Light

IEunuch's mansion and wealth

And Lilac sitting on my lap while she combs my beard.

Mom slept from 10:00pm to 4:00am and babbled the alphabet from then onward. At 10:30pm I locked her in the house, walked two miles to the house of my tobacconst, bought a pound, walked home and then went to the grocery to get my coca cola fix,cat food and Hershey bars...you know, just the staples of life.

Well, I have a working computer, my old HD, a working VCR, Cokes, tobacco so this is a good Xmas. Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night (in the arms of someone who curls your toes) :)

In case I forgot to mention it before, when mom came back from the nursing home 8 days a ago, she had brought with her a hacking cough and a runny nose. Her cold-flu symptions have since subsided but guess who now has her same symptions as of late last night...yup..moi :)

Late last night I happen to recall mom refusing to take an antibiotic that was prescribed to her by her family physician last March. Since I kept them for a "just in case" situation, I took one dose last night and one dose today so far.

It's called Cephaexin 500 mgs. I was planning to follow the directions on the bottle and take one dosage every six hours. I hoping to transform from "bug to windshield" in the next 24 hours.

I renewed mom's Xanax today. She used to take 2 mgs up to three times a day. Nowadays she rarely takes one. She uses them to calm her nerves. I take one 2 mg pill about 11:00pm and it gives me about 4-8 hours of good sleep.

I can't tell yet if the Cephalexin is working or not. I know I only cough if I'm lying down now. The head congestion seems slightly dimished though :) If drinking lots of fluids helps, I might have two bottles of Guinness tonight instead of the usual one.

I wish everyone a happy New Years Eve. Get plastered, stay home, DON'T DRIVE and snuggle with someone you love. Doesn't matter if the snugglee is male, female or a cat named Rupert.

When she refuses to take her meds, would it be at all possible to grind one up and mix it in with her food?

most melds also go great in juices like V8 and orange juice, so you can sneak them in without her realizing it, if she is they type to drink fruit juice. Do call the pharmacy to verify a delivery method, many "XL" or "ER" type pills are in extended controlled release capsules and must not be crushed. Some are imcompatable with certan foods or drinks.

Does the cat HAVE to be named Rupert ? Mine's named Skye. Won't she do as a snugglee ? 😵‍💫

I feel so safer now that I know our local police are on the job catching dangerous criminals instead of bothering with petty civil matters :P

I fully realize I should never yell at mom as she's often unware of what she is doing but last night she had me up 5 times to talk to her from midniught to 7:00am. The police arrived at 8:00am just as I had yelled, "mom, would please shutup and let me sleep."

On the plus side, one hour later, mom never remembers I yelled at her or who I am.

CATCH-22

When mom wasn't here but stuck in a nursing home miles away, I was at my lowest point of depression and seriously considered suicide. Then again, at the same time she was gone I had no working computer and no VCR.

Now that mom is home, she complains continuously during her waking hours and nags in a foreign language or rattles off the alphabet to me in random order. I'm not depressed now, as strange as that may seem.

Just now she wanted to sit on the front porch and I said no. It's a bit nippy outside so I said, "you can sit on the porch later this afternoon when it warms up a bit." She tried to walk out the door twice more so I put her back into her chair and locked the door.

On the plus side, she then berated me with phrases like" "you dirty rotten bastard, you son-of-a-bitch, you fucktard, etc, etc and etc."

The plus part is that all her anger was expressed in language I could understand. Her grammat was perfect :) Odd isn't it. If she wants more water or a cookie, I have to guess at what she is saying but if she is angry, she can outcurse a sailor and in clear english :)

I'm beginning to think I'm like the character at the Bates Motel in the movie Psycho, at least in the crossdressing part. Mom is happy I'm here now and glad that woman who yelled at her and refused to allow her outside, is gone now.

Maybe I dressed up as a woman and did those horrible things and then recovered my sanity (what little I have remaining) and put on guy clothes again to comfort mom and reassure her that woman is gone :)

Now, if I can only find a young female volunter to act out the shower scene for me. A non-violent version of it, no knives involved. I'm sure I could think of something to poke her with.

Shut up Mac, you senile old fool. Soon the men in white coats will come for you and lock you in a Minnesotta nunnery.

Not necessarily. If he got some Scope or Listerene mouth wash, gargle and

If he used his TONGUE to poke her he might just get a following of young girls wanting to feel good AND clean... down there, I mean...

...can't you see it? Mac the Wolf's Girl Wash... Come in all dirty and leave with a sparkling glow...

...of course, he might have to lose that pubic hair that is growing all over his face and chin... :D

Twilight Zone

I took a 3 hour nap tonight. I awoke and my computer was acting oddly. Nothing wanted to open: not yahoo messenger, my gmail, the Message Boards nor the EA chatroom.

Finally, a message popped up saying "your computer's date is set for 4:00pm 1969 and may not be responding properly." No Shit.

I rebooted, reset the date to just after midnight on Jan 4, 2008 and everything works fine. Maybe I slept through a minor power outtage.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it happens again it just means you need a new battery for the mother board. They cost about $8-12 and it is not a major repair.

Hey, Rip Van W,

I was having all kinds of trouble recently. Couldn't log in here, trouble with my browser, and my XP, all kinds of schmit. Finally computer farted and I found out the date was advanced by two months. I had been looking at future calendar and re-set the clock. Good one Blonde Boy. Since you are a silver blonde, I suspect you may have been setting the clock back in order to avoid using as much "Oil of OldLay."

Mac,

Please be careful with that "Bates Motel" analogy. Remember the ending when they found the body of his mother? You don't want to go that route!:D ...Or am I thinking of another movie... GAH! ... old age is setting in.... GAH!

Um and if mum yells at you does she get cautioned for elder abuse too.

Things sound better anyway and at least mum is home.

God Bless both of you.

It's 1:55am Sunday morning and I've decided that on Monday, I'm going to purchase a long hospital-type belt and tie mom into her chair, at least at night.

I had gone to bed about midnight and had fallen asleep shortly thereafter. Some time thereafter I thought I heard talking. I arose to discover mom had wheeled herself to the front door, unlocked and opened it, unlocked and opened the security screendoor, had wheeled herself out on the front porch and was calling out to anyone in the pouring rain.

We live in a poor neighborhood and I shudder to think if a rapist, druggie or other such type had seen the two open doors and the insane woman on the front porch.

Yup, my momma is is nutsy.

Might be cheaper to put double cylinder locks on the door. That way, you'd have to have a key to get out, too.

Strapping her to a chair would not go over well with the social services folks if they caught wind of it.

Best do the locks or some sort of alarm.
