I have a keyed deadbolt on the inside but forgot to lock it last night. I won't forget again.

Belt wise, every hospital or nursing home she has been has not only belted her to the bed but put cloth handcuffs on her as well because of her practice of wandering.

Strapping her to a chair would not go over well with the social services folks if they caught wind of it.

Best do the locks or some sort of alarm.

Do an alarm, not the locks - they're dangerous and likely illegal, especially with the various visits from social welfare you get. They are an extreme hazard for egress in a fire. Here they are code violations in any rental property or special care property.

You now have 20+ suns and soon you may run out of room. Might I suggest that ten or more suns equal a new symbol, maybe a super nova or something else spectacular.

Just a suggestion from an old buzzard with Galloping Senility.

MacTheWolf

Personally, I'm happy with 15 suns and lots of dots. I've been told that for each sun we get, you or another member of the Eunuch Council are obligated to buy us a pitcher of beer. True?

15 Suns you say? It looks to me like you have more medals than a dictator of a small country 😄

Not quite right--for each sun you get the Eunuch Council gets to drink a pitcher of your beer. --FLO--

Oh hell, if giving someone a sun gets me a pitcher of beer, gimme 20 minutes and I'll go in and edit everyone to give them at least one star. I could use the beer.

I do agree with the general idea that at a certain point, stars should tumble over to a new level. Gimme time to figure out the coding though, and to see what I can do about that.

On second thought, send me a Hillary Clinton love doll.

See, I am "almost" as kinky as a certain red nun:P

I spent MOST of Saturday cleaning up mom, the chair and the floor due to that curse we Americans inherited after the 1848 U.S. Mexican War, called Monteczuma's Revenge.

Around 5::30pm when things had calmed a bit, I walked to the grocery to get her some salad and Baked chicken. When I tried to get in the front door, she had locked me out grrrrrrrrrr.

Fortunately I had a backdoor key.

Other than that, my day was great :P

Mac,

Perhaps the best way to prevent her from locking you out is to just lock the door so she may unlock it and you then will not have the problem.

We had a one-sided deadbolt on both the front and back doors: the kind where's there's a knob on the inside and no visible lock on the outside. Last night and today, I removed them both.

Now all we have is a standard deadbolt, key operated on both inside and outside. Mom can't get out while I'm gone now.

I have to leave mom alone for 90 minutes today to walk up to Highland Avenue to the Green Shack Liquor Store where I can pay all of my utility bills.

On the negative side mom will be alone and locked in without phone service. I unplug it before I leave. On the plus side, walking a few miles is hard on the legs but good on my psyche. Now and then I need to get away from mom's incessant babbling.

BTW, the reason I unplug the phone: in the past when I'd go run errands or pay bills, mom would call the police telling them I was not returning or that she was kidnapped or many other tales. I'm tired of finding the local police waiting for me when I get home from a 3 mile walk and giving the same long explanation.

Mom, being 93, prefers the house to be real warm but that stops today. I just wrote a partial payment to the Gas Company for heating expenses for $126.44 out of a total owed for this month of $394.05 (ouch).

Maybe I should eat more beans and save the methane.

Walking to pay the bills only took 75 minutes. All bills paid except Time Warner Cable which arrives later this week. I have $373 left over to cover cable, food and miscellaneous so this month will be ok.

After I see what the cable wants, I might hire a plumber since that #*@$#* toilet is still leaking.

I've had no printer for my computer for seven days now. I have the funds to buy one but the stores are so far away as I'm afoot. Tomorrow, Monday, after my court hearing in Redlands, I'll walk up to Target and purchese a printer if it has that USB cable thingy. Unless it rains Monday too as it's been raining here for days now.

Then I'll stay home and wonder what's worse: (1) being without a printer (2) walking home with a printer in the rain or (3) Living in A-!'s community where that wacko Sears guy lives :P

Friday I received a bill from my attorney representing me in my attempt to gain conservatorship over my mother. Among the charges on it were:

* Conference woth client

* Draft Submission of Attorney

* $20,000 bond

* Process substitution of attorney

* Draft Legal Service Agreement

* Court appearance

* Phone conference

Total hours I was billed for was 9 hrs 20 minutes

Amount I was billed for: $0.41

41 Cents ?

Who's representing me an angel of God?

:)

My attorney just called to tell me the court date was tomorrow morning in the neighboring community of Redlands. He said I ddn't have to appear and he'd represent me. I trust this guy.

He did say, "at the end of all your court proceedings the final bill might be $500 but I don't expect you to pay it until you have an income."

I swear this guy must be related to many I know here on the Eunuch Archive :)

A few weeks ago a friend offered to give me his used car but I turned him down since I'm not licensed to drive in California anymore but I do have a California ID card. Gee, I feel just like a migrant worker except I'm not getting paid even inferior wages.

My attorney said he'd call me tomorrow to tell me what occurred in court.

All for now.

This is MacTheWolf signing off in rainy Southern California. Yup, rained for past four days now.

My mother's lawyer, the one who wants me to paint the house, replace all the carpeting and fix all the plumbing, called and said she wouldn;t be in court today because she's stuck in the mud due to heavy rains :)

I'll assume that gives me an extention to get more done on the house.

I have been without a printer for a week now and my other source for a used Brother computer for $35 never got to my house despite several pledges on his part to do so.

On the plus side: I called Target, a department store in town and talked to their computer department. They sell new printers starting at $24 on up to $99. That's my kind of price range.

Just to be sure it will fit my iMac, I'll bring along my old USB cord with me to see if it fits. Hopefully tomorrow, via the bus.

It means leaving mom for 90 minutes or so but hopefully she won't kill the cat or burn down the house. Especially the house burning part. Our homeowners insurance expired.

Be sure to hang on to the cord. Printers dont generally come equipped with them.
