When I get older and more senile can I have Daughter as my nurse?
Then again, with my luck, I'd look up and see a smiling nun in a Red Habit.

Daughter's pretty darned expensive, not so sure you could afford her.... Besides, I don't do dentures, diapers, dishes, spongebaths, or anything having to do with body fluids of any kind. Psychotropic medications and Narcotic pain reliever supplies may steadily dwindle without your knowledge... Hey, I gotta make extra cash somewhere, might as well sell them to stupid suburban kids outside a high school.

In Louisiana, we have a "family values" United States senator who apparently likes wearing diapers. I haven't found a diapers paraphilia but there is a toothless women Yahoo Group.

I once worked at a group home for MR/MI adults. We had a guy with a diaper/baby fetish. He sometimes took the adult diapers from the first-aid clinic at the sheltered workshop and wore them under his clothes, only to be given away by the crumpled-paper sound it made when he walked. I went up to his room one Saturday morning to take him his meds and, assuming he was still asleep, barged in to find him spankin' it to a Rugrats cartoon.
I never went in without knocking again.

Hopefully, if I live to be old enough to make it to a nursing home, I'll have more sophisticated tastes in cartoons and I''ll be watching Moose, Squirrel, Boris, Natasha, Fearless Leader, Mr. Peabody, Sherman and Fractured Fairy Tales.

Only have a moment before more mundane stuff calls (See: Work:()
But I wanted to post MY favorite.
When I was in high school band I developed an instant crush on our band director when he picked up a cornet (not a trumpet!), warmed up a bit (the scales and arpeggios themselves were dazzling,) and played this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAHOquAnAmU
That man could play the trumpet, cornet, and flugelhorn soooooo well. He gave a "recital" as part of one of our concerts and brought down the house.
I envisioned that handsome rascal (the band director) saving me from various hazards and even secretly referred to myself as "Nell". See? Even then Yoli was crazy.
Who'd believe a "Nell" with long dark hair?
Luv to all,
Nell...errrr...Yoli

I "finally" heard back from my attorney today. He has conferred with mom's attorney. Both see no reason why I cannot have all of mom's property transferred to my name.
He told me to start looking on Monday to see about obtaining a reverse mortgage in my name.
Things "might" be looking up.

Be very wary of reverse mortgages. There can be significant tax impacts, and the costs of the reverse can be pretty hefty. There are probably some non-profits who can advise you about these - they would be familiar with the laws in your state.

I heard from a loan officer about a Reverse Mortgage today and found out it was a federally insured program. The spokesperson I talked to said I had three options based on the current market value of my house:
1. $800 a month for the rest of my life.
2. $1,650 a month for ten years
3. $1,650 a month for five years and $64,000 in a savings account.
I'm considering option number 3.
Advice, criticism, insults, chastisements all graciously accepted.

Excellent! Glad to hear the news.

I have no experience or knowledge of reverse mortages. Why you consider the third option interests me. I got into trouble with taxes on my IRA. However, this looks like an opportunity for you and a just reward.

Wolfie, I know this has to be a weight off your shoulders. Just be careful and make sure the deal is something you can live with. I am happy for you and glad you seem to have found a solution to your financial woes.

I've gone two days now without any sleep and I have no idea why. I go to bed, can't seem to relax and lie there with my mind very active. So I get up. go online and surf.
I'll wager if I had a job I'd be worn out from working and get some sleep.
I hate insomnia almost as much as I hate onions and sauerkraut

Insomnia is difficult. I get it whne I am working! At least, sometimes I do if the job bothers me. Having a job does tend to focus one's attention. It also structures one's life. I read more when I am working than when I am not working.

I awoke this morning to find two problems: See, my life is never dull - lol
My Internet was offline. I went outside and saw 4 Time_Warner trucks on my street. They were working on the poles. Internet works now
My telephone isn't working: no dial tone. Fortunately, I contacted Verizon via my computer and a repair person will be out between 12n noon and 4 pm on July 23.
When I suddenly realized earlier that I had no Internet, no phone and no car, I really felt cut off from the world. Scary

I thought you had internet phone now. Voice over IP. If you have that then you should have canceled your Verison phone service and save a lot of money. No need to have both.

I would bet that Time Warner cancled your Verison phone service when they changed your phone service to the voice over IP. If Verison comes to your home it may be a service charge.
Plug your phone into the new box from Time Warner and you should have your phone service there. Have someone call you at your old number. If the phone rings on the phone on the Time Warner box then you no longer have Verison Phone service.

Great to hear you can get your finances in order. You must have a good lawyer and a good judge for your conservatorship. Doubt that they would have ever approved the transfer of your mother's assets in the state where I reside, but of course it's just common sense to do it, assuming that's consistent with your mother's will.
Reminds me of the old lawyer's observation on how to win a tort case--"First, find a court that will let you win."
As to the reverse mortgage--reverse mortgages, of course, amount to borrowing the money in small increments. Usually the interest costs wind up being rather high compared to alternatives like a first TD. I've never yet recommended a reverse mortgage to anybody. You'd do well to find a good certified financial analyst. Some such folk will do consultations for free and explain things in understandable language. The bank officers you talk to are essentially salesmen.

Planned reality -
I was going to walk my five miles, get my tobacco, do grocery shopping and head downtown to see my first new movie in five years.
Actual reality -
I'm back from my walk with tobacco but me legs feel like the first week of basic training in the military. I might make it to the grocery store if my legs don't fold beneath me - lol
The movie may have to wait till my legs ache less.
On the plus side, I'm so sore and exhausted from my lil walk that I may actually sleep tonight.

Walking to the grocery was painful but I made it. Pushing the shopping cart three blocks home was something else entirely. I was almost across the parking lot when the back of my legs, from the heels to the knees, spasmed up into the most painful large charlie horse I ever had. I wanted to sit down but it hurt too much to move so I just stood there, supported by my shopping cart until it felt as though the spasms were dying down. I made it home but I'd like to avoid spasms like that in the future.
Do you old guys get those too?
